Sabri Sarıoğlu
Sabri Sarıoğlu (born 26 July 1984) is a Turkish former professional footballer who most notably played for Galatasaray and the Turkey national team. Club career Galatasaray Born in Çarşamba, Samsun Province, Sabri spent almost his entire career with Galatasaray, having risen through the ranks of the Galatasaray youth team. He was first called up to feature for the first team, at the age of 17, in the 2001–02 season under manager Mircea Lucescu. He was in Galatasaray's official squad-list for the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League. The 2001–02 season also marked the first time he made his way into Galatasaray bench for an official match, but he failed to make an appearance. He made his competitive debut for the first team in a Süper Lig match the following season against Trabzonspor on 4 May 2003, in the side now managed by Fatih Terim. Çarşamba
Çarşamba is a municipality and district of Samsun Province, Turkey. Its area is 774 km2, and its population is 140,664 (2022). It is in the center of the Çarşamba Plain. The mayor is Hüseyin Dündar (Independent). Ferhan Şensoy - writer, actor and stage director - was born here. Fatih Terim
Fatih Terim (born 4 September 1953) is a Turkish people, Turkish professional Association football, football Manager (association football), manager and former player. He is the manager of Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab FC (Riyadh), Al-Shabab. During his football career, he played for Ceyhanspor, Adana Demirspor and Galatasaray. 2008–09 Süper Lig
The 2008–09 Süper Lig (also known as ''Turkcell Super League'' due to sponsoring reasons) was the fifty-first season since its establishment. It began on 22 August 2008 and ended on 31 May 2009. Galatasaray were the defending champions. Beşiktaş clinched the championship after winning at Denizlispor on the last matchday. The latter barely avoided relegation after finishing in a three-way tie on points with Gençlerbirliği and Konyaspor. Head-to-head comparison between those three teams eventually resulted in the demotion of Konyaspor, who joined Kocaelispor and Hacettepe on their way to the second-level First League. Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray had to settle for fourth and fifth place, respectively, after Sivasspor came in as runners-up and Trabzonspor finished third. 2007–08 Süper Lig
The 2007–08 Süper Lig season, (also known as the Turkcell Süper Lig for sponsorship reasons), was the 50th anniversary of top-flight professional football in Turkey. It was won by Galatasaray, who won their 17th championship. Since Turkey had climbed from 15th to 14th position in the UEFA association coefficient rankings at the end of the 2006–07 season, and UEFA Champions League-bound Zenit Saint Petersburg won the 2007–08 UEFA Cup, the domestic cup winner, Kayserispor, which had qualified for the second qualifying round of the 2008–09 UEFA Cup, was promoted to the first round, filling the unused title holder spot. The 2006–07 Süper Lig was the 49th edition of the top-flight professional football league in Turkey. The season began on 4 August 2006 with a match between Ankaraspor and Galatasaray, resulting in a 1–1 draw. Fenerbahçe became champions after drawing Trabzonspor 2–2, while Beşiktaş lost 3–0 to Bursaspor and Galatasaray drew 1–1 with Sivasspor. Kayseri Erciyesspor gained qualification to the UEFA Cup because of Beşiktaş' qualification to the UEFA Champions League Second Qualifying Round. The 2005–06 Süper Lig season began with Turkcell signing a 5-year sponsorship deal with the Turkish Football Federation to name the league Turkcell Süper Lig. Since Turkey dropped from tenth to eleventh place in the UEFA association coefficient rankings at the end of the 2004–05 season, the champions will not directly be entered into the group stage of the UEFA Champions League any more, but rather have to begin in the third qualification round. The 2003–04 Süper Lig was the 46th league season, and the third season of Süper Lig. Fenerbahçe won their 15th title, being 4 points ahead Trabzonspor. Since Turkey dropped from eighth to tenth place in the UEFA association coefficient rankings at the end of the 2002–03 season, the league has lost two of its UEFA Cup berths. An extremely dramatic final fixture took place, because in the relegation places, there were four teams. Bursaspor, with 37 points, İstanbulspor with 38, Çaykur Rizespor and Akçaabat Sebatspor with 39. İstanbulspor, managed by Aykut Kocaman, won 2-0 away at Konya over Konyaspor, Çaykur Rizespor defeated Beşiktaş 1-0, and Akçaabat Sebatspor beaten Ankaragücü 3-2. The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA Euro 2008 or simply Euro 2008, was the 13th UEFA European Championship, a quadrennial football tournament contested by the member nations of UEFA (the Union of European Football Associations).
