2014 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship
The 2014 FIVB Women's World Championship was the seventeenth edition of the competition, contested by the 24 senior women's national teams of the members of the ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The final tournament was held from 23 September to 12 October 2014 in Italy. The United States won their first world title, defeating China in four sets at the final. Reigning Olympic champions Brazil won the 3rd place match, defeating Italy in five sets. Kimberly Hill was selected Most Valuable Player. Qualification The regional qualification stage determined the 24 teams competing in the championship competition. Hosts Italy were granted automatic qualification. Regional governing bodies were allocated the remaining 23 spots. Volleyball At The Summer Olympics
Volleyball has been part of the Summer Olympics program for both men and women consistently since 1964. Brazil, France, the United States and the former Soviet Union are the only teams to win multiple gold medals at the men's tournament since its introduction. The remaining six editions of the Men's Olympic Volleyball Tournament were won each by a different country including Japan, Poland, Netherlands, Russia and the defunct Yugoslavia. The 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix was the 22nd edition of the annual women's international volleyball tournament played by 28 countries from 25 July to 24 August 2014. The Group 1 final round was held in Tokyo, Japan. The Brazilian star team won the tournament for the tenth time, the second consecutive victory. The 2011 FIVB World Grand Prix was a women's volleyball tournament played by 16 countries from 5 to 28 August 2011. The finals were held at the Macau East Asian Games Dome in Macau, China. The FIVB World Grand Prix 2008 was a women's volleyball tournament in which 12 countries competed from 20 June to 12 July 2008. The finals were held in Yokohama Arena, Yokohama, Japan. Cuba, Brazil, Dominican Republic and the United States qualified for the tournament at the 2007 Women's Pan-American Cup in Colima, Mexico. 2007 FIVB World Grand Prix
The FIVB World Grand Prix 2007 was the fifteenth edition of the annual women's volleyball tournament, which is the female equivalent of the Men's Volleyball World League. The 2007 World Grand Prix lasted four weeks with a total number of 65 matches. During the first, second, and third week, each team played nine matches in total. Preliminary rounds were staged in Japan (3x), Italy, Poland, Macau, Hong Kong, Russia, and Chinese Taipei. The final round was played in Ningbo, PR China, at Beilun Gymnasium, over five days and the best six teams from the preliminary rounds. 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship
The 2025 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship is the planned 20th tournament of the FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship for women's national volleyball teams, organized by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). The tournament is scheduled to be played in Thailand from 22 August to 7 September 2025. It is planned to be the first under two-year cycles in odd-numbered years with an expanded format featuring 32 teams. The tournament will be the first World Championship to be hosted in Southeast Asia, and the first of two consecutive World Championships in 2025 to be held in this region, preceding the Men's World Championship in the Philippines. Thailand will become the third country in Asia to host the World Championship, following Japan and China. The 2022 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship was the 19th staging of the FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship, contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the (FIVB). The Netherlands and Poland were dual hosts for this event. Serbia women's national volleyball team, Serbia won their second title for the consecutive edition, beating Brazil women's national volleyball team, Brazil in straight sets. 2010 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship
The 2010 FIVB Women's World Championship was the sixteenth edition of the competition. Like the previous tournament, the 2010 edition also was held from 29 October to 14 November 2010 in Japan, though the range of venues and locations was modified slightly ( Matsumoto and Hamamatsu replaced Sapporo and Kobe in 2010). Twenty-four teams participated in the tournament. The tournament was won by Russia, who finished with a perfect record, defeating Brazil in the intense final game. Japan defeated the United States for the third place, winning their first bronze medal in the tournament history, and the first medal since 1978, having so far three gold and three silver already to their name. Russia won its second straight title, while Brazil was prevented from achieving a volleyball double of winning both the men's championship and the women's championship in the same year.
