Sabana, Villa Clara
Sabana, also known as La Sabana, or Andrés Cuevas, is a settlement located in the ward of José María Pérez, Villa Clara Province, Cuba. Sabana itself used to be its own ward, but later became a part of José María Pérez. Sabana is located a few kilometers away from the municipal seat of Camajuaní. History Sabana used to be a former barrio of the municipality of Camajuaní, which it still is a part of. In 1902, the barrio of Sabana had a population of 1,602. Sabana bordered the barrios of Santa Clarita, Salamanca, Egido, Santa Fé, and a quadripoint with Guadalupe. Before Sabana became a part of José María Pérez, it was its own consejo popular, including the settlements of Sabana itself, and El Mamey, El Pesquero, Colmenar, and El Camarón. It became part of José María Pérez sometime between 2019 and 2020. Sabana is a barrio in the municipality of Orocovis, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 976. Sectors Barrios (which are, in contemporary times, roughly comparable to minor civil divisions) in turn are further subdivided into smaller local populated place areas/units called sectores (''sectors'' in English). Sabana is a barrio in the municipality of Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 15,164. History Sabana was in Spain's gazetteers until Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Sabana barrio was 910.
