STB (TV Channel)
STB () is a Ukrainian commercial television network. Today, the coverage area of the network is 85% of Ukraine's territory. It is broadcast in all Oblast centers and all Ukrainian cities with a population greater than 50,000. It occupies the 1st place in the list of the leading TV networks in Ukraine. The channel is a part of Starlight Media broadcasting group, created by Victor Pinchuk. History The founders of the networks were Ukrainian and American companies: International Media Center, Shachar Enterprises, Inc., Internews Netouron K. The STB was launched on 2 June 1997. Since 1997, STB was controlled by Volodymyr Sivkovych, a Ukrainian businessman and politician. He was the one, who decided to create the TV channel. Osman Server oglu Pashayev (, , ; born 23 January 1977 in Angren) is Crimean Tatar journalist and producer. Biography Pashayev was born in Uzbekistan in Crimean Tatar family. His grandparents were deported from Crimea by the NKVD along with the entire Crimean Tatar nation in 1944. Since 1980 he lived in the Ukrainian city of Henichesk and since 1989 moved to Crimea. Myroslava Gongadze
Myroslava Gongadze (, born 19 June 1972) is a Ukrainian journalist currently living in the United States. Her husband, journalist Georgiy Gongadze, was abducted and murdered in 2000. Georgiy Gongadze
Georgiy Ruslanovych Gongadze (21 May 1969 – 17 September 2000) was a Ukrainian journalist who was kidnapped and murdered in 2000 near Kyiv. He founded the online newspaper ''Ukrainska Pravda'' along with Olena Prytula in 2000. He was born in Tbilisi to a Ukrainian mother and a Georgian father. The circumstances of his death became a national scandal and a focus for protests against then-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma. During the Cassette Scandal, audiotapes were released on which Kuchma, Volodymyr Lytvyn and other top-level administration officials are heard discussing the need to silence Gongadze for his online news reports about high-level corruption. Former Interior Minister Yuriy Kravchenko died of two gunshot wounds to the head on 4 March 2005, just hours before he was to begin providing testimony as a witness in the case. Kravchenko was the superior of the four policemen who were charged with Gongadze's murder soon after Kravchenko's death.
