Strategic Support Branch
The Strategic Support Branch (SSB) was a United States intelligence organization created by the Department of Defense (DoD) with support from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The SSB's mission was to provide an intelligence capability for field operation units, and U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF), in support of anti-terrorism and counter-terrorism missions in war zones and beyond. The SSB has been dissolved with many of its activities and capabilities transferred to DIA's Defense Clandestine Service. Overview Originally titled Human Augmentation Teams, the Strategic Support Branch was established to give DoD an increase of human intelligence capabilities and what was considered by former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld an end to "near total dependence on the CIA" for human intelligence. Although the SSB was designed to operate without detection and under the defense secretary's direct control, it is commanded by ... Super Smash Bros
is a series of platform fighting video games published by Nintendo. Created by Masahiro Sakurai, the ''Super Smash Bros.'' series is a crossover featuring many characters from other video game series created by Nintendo and other developers. Its gameplay is distinct from traditional fighting games, with players aiming to knock each other off of stages after accumulating damage with numerous attacks. The games have also featured a variety of side modes, including single-player story modes. Sakurai conceived the idea of ''Super Smash Bros.'' while working at HAL Laboratory in 1998 with the help of Satoru Iwata. The series's first game, '' Super Smash Bros.'' (1999), was released for the Nintendo 64 and used characters from Nintendo franchises including '' Mario'', '' Donkey Kong'', ''The Legend of Zelda'', '' Kirby'', and '' Pokémon''. The game was a success, and Sakurai was asked to make a sequel for the then-upcoming GameCube, '' Super Smash Bros. Melee'', which wa ... Sonic Soldier Borgman
, or simply , is a futuristic science fiction hero anime television series produced by Nippon TV, Yomiko Advertising, Toho and Ashi Productions. It was directed by Hiroshi Negishi, with Hideki Sonoda handling series scripts, Kia Asamiya designing the characters and Hiromoto Tobisawa composing the music. The TV series aired on Nippon TV and its affiliate stations on Wednesday evenings from April 13 to December 21, 1988, and was followed up by a video game, two movies, and an OVA miniseries released in 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1993, respectively. Plot In 1999, four meteorites, the "demon stones," fell on Tokyo, destroying the capital city. Thirty-one years later, in 2030, invaders from another dimension, calling themselves demons, suddenly attacked Megalo City, a new city built on Tokyo Bay. Their goal is to complete the magic square with the fifth demon stone, revive the Demon King, and conquer the world. Just when everyone thought that the human race had no choice but to peris ... Solid-state Battery
A solid-state battery (SSB) is an electrical battery that uses a solid electrolyte (''solectro'') to conduct ions between the electrodes, instead of the liquid or gel polymer electrolytes found in conventional batteries. Solid-state batteries theoretically offer much higher energy density than the typical lithium-ion or lithium polymer batteries. While solid electrolytes were first discovered in the 19th century, several problems prevented widespread application. Developments in the late 20th and early 21st century generated renewed interest in the technology, especially in the context of electric vehicles. Solid-state batteries can use metallic lithium for the anode and oxides or sulfides for the cathode, increasing energy density. The solid electrolyte acts as an ideal separator that allows only lithium ions to pass through. For that reason, solid-state batteries can potentially solve many problems of currently used liquid electrolyte Li-ion batteries, such as flammabil ... Compressed Earth Block
A compressed earth block (CEB), also known as a pressed earth block or a compressed soil block, is a building material made primarily from an appropriate mix of fairly dry inorganic subsoil, non-expansive clay, sand, and aggregate. Forming compressed earth blocks requires dampening, mechanically pressing at high pressure, and then drying the resulting material. If the blocks are stabilized with a chemical binder such as Portland cement they are called ''compressed stabilized earth block'' (CSEB) or ''stabilized earth block'' (SEB). Typically, around of pressure is applied in compression, and the original material volume is reduced by about half. Creating CEBs differs from rammed earth in that the latter uses a larger formwork into which earth is poured and manually tamped down, creating larger forms such as a whole wall or more at one time, rather than building blocks. CEBs differ from mud bricks in that the latter are not compressed, but solidify through chemical changes that ... Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking
Spontaneous symmetry breaking is a spontaneous process of symmetry breaking, by which a physical system in a symmetric state spontaneously ends up in an asymmetric state. In particular, it can describe systems where the equations of motion or the Lagrangian obey symmetries, but the lowest-energy vacuum solutions do not exhibit that same symmetry. When the system goes to one of those vacuum solutions, the symmetry is broken for perturbations around that vacuum even though the entire Lagrangian retains that symmetry. Overview The spontaneous symmetry breaking cannot happen in quantum mechanics that describes finite dimensional systems, due to Stone-von Neumann theorem (that states the uniqueness of Heisenberg commutation relations in finite dimensions). So spontaneous symmetry breaking can be observed only in infinite dimensional theories, as quantum field theories. By definition, spontaneous symmetry breaking requires the existence of physical laws which are invariant ... Speculative Store Bypass
Speculative Store Bypass (SSB) () is the name given to a hardware security vulnerability and its exploitation that takes advantage of speculative execution in a similar way to the Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities. It affects the ARM, AMD and Intel families of processors. It was discovered by researchers at Microsoft Security Response Center and Google Project Zero (GPZ). After being leaked on 3 May 2018 as part of a group of eight additional Spectre-class flaws provisionally named '' Spectre-NG'', it was first disclosed to the public as "Variant 4" on 21 May 2018, alongside a related speculative execution vulnerability designated " Variant 3a". Details Speculative execution exploit Variant 4, is referred to as Speculative Store Bypass (SSB), and has been assigned . SSB is named Variant 4, but it is the fifth variant in the Spectre-Meltdown class of vulnerabilities. Steps involved in exploit: # "Slowly" store a value at a memory location # "Quickly" load that value ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Sjögren Syndrome Antigen B
Sjögren syndrome type B antigen (SS-B) also known as Lupus La protein is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''SSB'' gene. Function La is involved in diverse aspects of RNA metabolism, including binding and protecting 3-prime UUU (OH) elements of newly RNA polymerase III-transcribed RNA, processing 5-prime and 3-prime ends of pre-tRNA precursors, acting as an RNA chaperone, and binding viral RNAs associated with hepatitis C virus. La protein was originally defined by its reactivity with autoantibodies from patients with Sjögren's syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus Lupus, formally called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue in many parts of the body. Symptoms vary among people and may be mild to severe. Common .... Interactions Sjögren syndrome antigen B has been shown to interact with nucleolin. Site-specific Browser
A site-specific browser (SSB) is a software application that is dedicated to accessing pages from a single source (site) on a computer network such as the Internet or a private intranet. SSBs typically simplify the more complex functions of a web browser by excluding the menus, toolbars and browser Graphical user interface , GUI associated with functions that are external to the workings of a single site. These applications are typically started by a desktop icon which is usually a favicon. Site-specific browsers are often implemented through the use of existing application frameworks such as Gecko (layout engine), Gecko, WebKit, Microsoft's Internet Explorer (the underlying Browser engine, layout engines, specifically Trident (layout engine), Trident and JScript) and Opera Software, Opera's Presto (layout engine), Presto. SSBs built upon these frameworks allow web applications and social networking tools to start with desktop icons launching in a manner similar to standard non- ... Single-strand Break
DNA repair is a collection of processes by which a cell identifies and corrects damage to the DNA molecules that encode its genome. A weakened capacity for DNA repair is a risk factor for the development of cancer. DNA is constantly modified in cells, by internal metabolic by-products, and by external ionizing radiation, ultraviolet light, and medicines, resulting in spontaneous DNA damage involving tens of thousands of individual molecular lesions per cell per day. DNA modifications can also be programmed. Molecular lesions can cause structural damage to the DNA molecule, and can alter or eliminate the cell's ability for transcription and gene expression. Other lesions may induce potentially harmful mutations in the cell's genome, which affect the survival of its daughter cells following mitosis. Consequently, DNA repair as part of the DNA damage response (DDR) is constantly active. When normal repair processes fail, including apoptosis, irreparable DNA damage may occur, ...
