SOS Racisme
SOS Racisme () is a politically left-wing international movement of anti-racist NGOs. The oldest chapter of SOS Racisme was founded in 1984 in France, and it has counterparts in several other European countries or regions. Its Norwegian branch, which claimed to be both the largest chapter of SOS Racisme and the largest anti-racist organisation in Europe, was controversial for its strong Maoist stance and for defrauding the government, resulting in the organisation's conviction for fraud and its bankruptcy as well as criminal proceedings against its leaders. Activities SOS Racisme's stated goal is to fight racial discrimination. Often the plaintiff in discrimination trials, the organization also offers support to immigrants and racial minorities that are facing discrimination. Workers' Communist Party (Norway)
The Workers' Communist Party (, AKP) was a Norwegian communist party (1973–2007). AKP was a Maoist party and one of two communist parties in Norway; the other was the older Communist Party of Norway which had remained pro-Soviet. The relationship between the two parties was characterized by strong hostility. AKP was founded in 1973, as ''Arbeidernes Kommunistparti (marxist-leninistene)''. It did not participate directly in elections, but members had "activity duty", meaning that they were to work for the party's goals – passive members were not accepted. The Muhammad cartoons controversy (or Muhammad cartoons crisis, ) began after the Danish newspaper published twelve editorial cartoons on 30 September 2005 depicting Muhammad, the founder of Islam, in what it said was a response to the debate over criticism of Islam and self-censorship. Islam in Denmark, Muslim groups in Denmark complained, sparking protests around the world, including violence and riots in some Muslim world, Muslim countries. Islam has a strong tradition of Aniconism in Islam, aniconism, and it is considered Islam and blasphemy, blasphemous by the majority of Muslims to visually depict Muhammad.
