The National Company of Radio and Television (, SNRT) is the public state-owned broadcaster of Morocco. History The broadcaster was formerly known as Radio-Maroc, then Moroccan Radio and Television (, RTM) from 1956 and from 1961. It was one of the founding members of the European Broadcasting Union in 1950 and continued as an active member until 1 January 1961 when RTM changed its affiliation to an associate membership. In 1969, it was readmitted as an active member. In 2009, the SNRT became a shareholder in Euronews, initially acquiring 0.33% then later expanding its share to 6% in 2011. In 2021, the government announced, via a televised interview with culture minister Othman El Ferdaous, announced that SNRT would acquire the part-state-owned 2M and private Medi 1 Radio and Medi 1 TV channels, to be reorganized into a public holding group by 2024. Athaqafia is a Morocco, Moroccan public television culture channel. It is a part of the Public broadcasting, state-owned SNRT Group along with Al Aoula, Arryadia, Al Maghribia, Assadissa, Aflam TV, Tamazight TV and Laayoune TV. Medi1 Radio (, also known as Radio Méditerranée Internationale) is a Moroccan radio network. Medi 1 has an audience of around 23 million people. It is emitted from Nador transmitter on 171 kHz longwave, and via internet and satellite. History and profile Previously a private radio network, Medi 1 Radio has been under the majority control of state-owned broadcaster SNRT since 2024. The station started broadcasting in 1980 and is based in Tangier. The radio station broadcasts throughout the Maghreb countries and it is bilingual, broadcasting content in both Arabic and French. Medi 1 was managed by Pierre Casalta (1936 – 2021) from its foundation until 2010. Arryadia
Arryadia is a Moroccan public television sports channel. It is a part of the state-owned SNRT Group along with Al Aoula, Athaqafia, Al Maghribia, Assadissa, Aflam TV, Tamazight TV and Laayoune TV. The channel was launched on 16 September 2006. Arryadia is the official broadcaster of the Moroccan league Botola. History Arryadia was launched by Fayçal Laaraichi, director-general of the SNRT, on 16 September 2006 in Casablanca. At launch, it had an annual budget of 50 million dirhams, with the median age of its viewer being 26.
