SBS9 is a Dutch commercial television channel owned by Talpa Network through Talpa TV. The channel was launched on 1 January 2015 at 12:00 CET with a movie marathon. The channel can be received via all television providers in the Netherlands. Other channels of the group in the Netherlands are SBS6, Net5 and Veronica. History SBS Broadcasting announced its plans for a launch of a fourth channel in the Netherlands already in 2009. On 22 August 2014, the company officially released its definite plans for a new channel targeting female viewers. The channel got its name SBS9 on 27 September 2014. The launch date was set in January 2015. On 10 April 2017, Talpa Holding acquired a 67% stake from Sanoma Media Netherlands. Talpa TV (formerly SBS Broadcasting B.V.) is a Dutch commercial broadcasting company owned by John de Mol's Talpa Network. History The network was launched by SBS Broadcasting in 1995 with the introduction of '' SBS6'', the third commercial channel of The Netherlands after RTL 4 and RTL 5. A second channel was added on 1 March 1999 with the launch of NET5, with this channel the network wanted to challenge the dutch public broadcasting system. SBS6 is a Dutch free-to-cable commercial TV channel and is a part of Talpa TV, formerly known as SBS Broadcasting B.V. and now owned by Talpa Network. Other channels of the group in the Netherlands are Net5, Veronica, and SBS9. History SBS stands for Scandinavian Broadcasting System. When the SBS Broadcasting Group started expanding outside of Scandinavia in 1995, one of the first countries where they set up a channel was the Netherlands with SBS6. They applied for a cable license in March of that year in an attempt to beat the launch of Veronica in September. Launch rumors included the defection of RTL 5's director of programming Fons van Westerloo to head the new channel from 1 May. Net5 is a Dutch free-to-air, free-to-cable commercial television channel, TV channel and is part of Talpa TV, formerly a part of SBS Broadcasting B.V. and now owned by Talpa Network. History Net5 was launched by the SBS Broadcasting Group as their second commercial channel in the Netherlands next to SBS6. Talpa Network is a Dutch media conglomerate created by John de Mol Jr. in 2017. History Talpa Network was created in 2017 by John de Mol when he merged all his various media assets, De Mol wanted to create a Dutch media conglomerate that could stand against foreign media companies entering the Dutch market. When Talpa Holding and Sanoma acquired SBS Broadcasting in 2011, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets forced De Mol to sell his minority stake in RTL Nederland. Veronica is a Dutch free-to-air commercial television channel currently a part of Talpa TV (Talpa Network). The channel was launched as TV10 Gold on 1 May 1995, then became TV10, Fox, Fox 8 and V8, before becoming Veronica on 20 September 2003. The channel is dedicated to young adults (13-35 demographic) and the male audience. ''Veronica'' is time-sharing with Disney Jr.: Disney Jr. broadcasts on daytime and Veronica on night time, the practice began when Saban International bought TV10 in January 1997, and launched a Fox Kids slot on the channel.
