S. S. Mallikarjun
Shamanur Shivashankarappa Mallikarjun (Kannada:ಶಾಮನೂರು ಶಿವಶಂಕರಪ್ಪ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನ್), known professionally as S.S. Mallikarjun, is an Indian politician from Karnataka. He is currently serving as Minister of Mines & Geology and Horticulture in Government of Karnataka. He is a member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly representing Davanagere North (Karnataka Assembly constituency), Davangere North. He is the Chairman of S. S. Institute of Medical Sciences, SS Institute of Medical Science and research center, Davangere. He lost to G. M. Siddeshwara in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He also lost to S. A. Ravindranath in 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election, Karnataka State Assembly Elections-2018. The Government of Karnataka, abbreviated as GoK or GoKA, formerly known as Government of Mysore (1956–1974), is a democratically elected state body with the governor as the ceremonial head to govern the Southwest Indian state of Karnataka. The governor who is appointed for five years appoints the chief minister and on the advice of the chief minister appoints their council of ministers. Even though the governor remains the ceremonial head of the state, the day-to-day running of the government is taken care of by the chief minister and their council of ministers in whom a great amount of legislative powers are vested.
