S.E.S. (group)
S.E.S. (; acronym for Sea, Eugene, Shoo) was a South Korean girl group formed in 1997 by SM Entertainment, featuring three members: Bada, Eugene, and Shoo. Their debut album '' I'm Your Girl'' sold 650,000 copies, becoming the third best-selling album by a female group in South Korea. Their follow-up albums, '' Sea & Eugene & Shoo'' in 1998, ''Love'' in 1999 and ''A Letter from Greenland'' in 2000 also became best-sellers. Early in their career, they were dubbed as the female counterpart of their labelmates H.O.T., who debuted in 1996. The group officially disbanded in December 2002, after unsuccessful contract renewal negotiations with Bada and Eugene; Shoo maintained her career with SM until 2006. The ''MBC Gayo Daejejeon'' () is an annual, end-of-the-year South Korean music show broadcast by the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC). The event was first held in 1966 as a singing competition, but MBC stopped giving out awards in 2005. History The event was first held in 1966 as the ''MBC Ten Singers Match'' (Hangul: MBC 10대 가수 청백전). It was a competition among ten singers, with the winner being awarded the "King of Ten Singers." It was broadcast live on MBC radio from the Seoul Citizens Hall. The event was broadcast on television starting in 1970. In 1972, the Seoul Citizens Hall caught on fire at the end of that year's ''MBC Ten Singers Match.'' About 1,500 people were still inside the venue as the fire spread. Nylon Beat
Nylon Beat is a Finnish girl group consisting of Jonna Kosonen and Erin Koivisto (later known as Erin during her solo career). Their main period of popularity was during the late 1990s and early 2000s. History The band was formed in 1995 as a result of the TV show "Kiitorata" ('runway' in English). At that time, both girls were only 18 years old. They started with backup tracks and dancers. Later their music matured somewhat and finally they performed fully live with a band of professional musicians.
