Russell Fry (politician)
Russell William Fry (born January 31, 1985) is an American people, American politician and lawyer serving as the U.S. representative for South Carolina's 7th congressional district since 2023. A member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, Fry represented the 106th District in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023. In 2018, he was appointed to the position of Majority Chief Whip for the 122nd South Carolina General Assembly. Career South Carolina House of Representatives In May 2015, State Representative Nelson Hardwick announced his resignation after House leadership investigated sexual harassment allegations against him. Fry ran in the special election for Hardwick's seat. He won a plurality of the vote in the Republican primary in July and advanced to a Two-round system, runoff against Tyler Servant. Maxwell Alejandro Frost (born January 17, 1997) is an American politician, activist and musician serving as the U.S. representative for since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he was previously the national organizing director for March for Our Lives. Elected at age 25, he is the first member of Generation Z in Congress. Early life Frost was born on January 17, 1997, to a Puerto Rican woman of Lebanese descent and a Haitian father. His biological mother had several children. He was adopted as an infant; his adoptive mother is a special education teacher who migrated to the United States from Cuba in the Freedom Flights, and his adoptive father is a musician from Kansas. On January 19, 2023, the United States hit its debt ceiling, leading to a debt-ceiling crisis, part of an ongoing political debate within Congress about federal government spending and the national debt that the U.S. government accrues.
