Roundu District
The Rondu District ( ur, ), also spelled Roundu District, is one of the 14 districts of Pakistan-administered territory of Gilgit-Baltistan. The district encompasses the entire Roundu Valley, which is the fourth-largest valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, after the Skardu Valley, the Khaplu Valley, and the Shigar Valley The valley is situated in the western part of the Baltistan Division and forms the main trade and travel route between the Baltistan Division and the Gilgit Division. The Rondu District was created out of the Skardu District in 2019. Demographics The people of the Rondu Valley are predominantly Balti people, who speak the Balti language, but there are a significant number of Shina speaking people, as well. People of the Roundu valley belong to Shia sect of Islam. The district headquarters is the town of Dambudas, which is about 65–70 km from Skardu. Districts Of Gilgit-Baltistan
The number rose from seven to ten in 2016 after the addition of 2 districts in Baltistan Valley and the bifurcation of the Hunza–Nagar District, Hunza-Nagar district. , there are 14 districts in Gilgit-Baltistan, Gilgit Baltistan, 5 in the Baltistan Division, 5 in the Gilgit Division and 4 in the Diamer Division. The number rose from seven to ten in 2016 after the addition of 2 districts in Baltistan Valley and the bifurcation of the Hunza–Nagar District, Hunza-Nagar district. In 2019, Darel District, Darel, Tangir District, Tangir, Gupis-Yasin District, Gupis–Yasin and Roundu District, Roundu were announced as new districts. Shia
Shīʿa Islam or Shīʿīsm is the second-largest Islamic schools and branches, branch of Islam. Shina ( ) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by the Shina people. Balti Language
Balti (Nastaʿlīq script: , Tibetan script: སྦལ་ཏི།, ) is a Tibetic language natively spoken by the ethnic Balti people in the Baltistan region of Gilgit−Baltistan, Pakistan, Nubra Valley of the Leh district and in the Kargil district of Ladakh, India. The language differs from Standard Tibetan; many sounds of Old Tibetan that were lost in Standard Tibetan are retained in the Balti language. It also has a simple pitch accent system only in multi-syllabic words while Standard Tibetan has a complex and distinct pitch system that includes tone contour. Demographics and distribution Balti is spoken in most parts of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan, Kargil and Nubra Ladakh in India. Skardu District
The Skardu District ( ur, ) is one of the 10 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan territory of Pakistan. The Skardu District is bounded on the east by the Ghanche District, on the south by the Kharmang District, on the west by the Astore District, on the north-west by the Rondu District and on the north by the Shigar district. The district headquarters is the town of Skardu, which is also the division headquarters. Shigar Valley
The Shigar Valley ( ur, وادی شگر) is a valley in Gilgit Baltistan in northern Pakistan that is watered by the Shigar River, and centred on the town of Shigar. The valley stretches about 170 km from Skardu to Askole and is the gateway to the high mountains of the Karakoram. The town of Shigar is the largest settlement in valley. Even though the Shigar Valley is a remote and largely inaccessible place, there are several villages in the valley. Askole is the last settlement in the Shigar Valley, which is still far from the high mountains. Shigar was an administrative sub-division of Skardu District that is now a district in its own right. This valley is a stream of the Indus River, which is near to the town of Skardu. It is a popular destination for hiking, trekking and mountaineering, despite the tough conditions there.
