Rocky Point High School
Rocky Point High School is a public school of the Rocky Point Union Free School District along the north shore of Long Island, located in Rocky Point, New York. It is the only high school in the district and serves grades 9-12. Prior to its formation in 1971, students from the Rocky Point area attending public school attended school in Port Jefferson, New York. It was Rocky Point Junior Senior High School, (7th-12th grade) until the opening of the Rocky Point Middle School in September 2002. The first graduating class in Rocky Point was 1975, because from 1971 to 1974 it was not yet considered a high school. Rocky Point, New York
Rocky Point is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Brookhaven, New York, United States. As of the 2010 United States census, the CDP population was 14,014. History Rocky Point is home to the site where American radio company RCA once operated a large transmitting and transmitter research facility, known as Radio Central. RCA began to transmit transatlantic radio messages from Radio Central after its opening on November 5, 1921. On January 7, 1927, AT&T initiated the first transatlantic commercial telephone service, linking London and New York. AT&T's transmitter was at Radio Central, and their receiver was in Houlton, Maine. Port Jefferson (informally known as "Port Jeff") is an incorporated village in the town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, New York, on the North Shore of Long Island. Officially known as the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson, the population was 7,962 as of the 2020 United States census. Danny Burawa
Daniel James Burawa (born December 30, 1988) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played for the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves in 2015, and also played internationally for the Israel national baseball team. Early life Burawa was born in Riverhead, New York, to Paul and Denise Burawa. Amateur career Burawa attended Rocky Point High School in Rocky Point, New York, on the North Shore of Long Island, where he pitched for the Eagles. During his junior year, he threw two no-hitters. The Town of Brookhaven is the most populous of the ten towns of Suffolk County, New York, United States. Part of the New York metropolitan area, it is located approximately 50 miles from Manhattan.
