Rissa Church
Rissa Church ( no, Rissa kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Indre Fosen municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Leira, just northeast of the village of Årnset. It is one of the churches for the Rissa parish which is part of the Fosen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The gray, stone church was built in a long church style in 1888 using plans drawn up by the architect Carl Julius Bergstrøm (1828-1898). The church seats about 650 people. History The church for the Rissa parish was Rein Church for many centuries. In 1888, the parish decided to tear down the old church and to build a new church at Årnset, about northeast of the old church. The new church would be called ''Rissa Church''. This new church was built out of stone and it was consecrated on 26 October 1888. Indre Fosen is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Fosen. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Årnset. This list of churches in Nidaros is a list of the Church of Norway churches in the Diocese of Nidaros which covers all of Trøndelag county in Norway. The list is divided into several sections, one for each deanery in the diocese. Administratively within each deanery, the churches are divided by municipalities which have their own church council and then into parishes which have their own councils . Each parish may have one or more congregations in it. The municipality of Trondheim includes several deaneries within the municipality due to its large population. A choir, also sometimes called quire, is the area of a church or cathedral that provides seating for the clergy and church choir. It is in the western part of the chancel, between the nave and the sanctuary, which houses the altar and Church tabernacle. Rein Church ( no, Rein kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Indre Fosen municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Reinsgrenda, which is situated just south of the village of Årnset. It is one of the churches for the Rissa parish which is part of the Fosen prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The red, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1932 by the architect Helge Thiis. The church seats about 400 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1433, but the church was likely built during the 13th century. The first church was a stave church.
