Ridgeway High School (Birkenhead)
Ridgeway High School is a co-educational, comprehensive school in Noctorum, Birkenhead, on the Wirral Peninsula in England. The school caters for pupils between the ages of 11 and 16, from within the Local Authority area of the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, primarily Noctorum, Prenton, and Oxton. History and rebuild Ridgeway was built in the 1970s as a two-storey building with a single-storey gymnasium. In the 1990s, an extension was added to the existing building to accommodate the school's language programs. At that point, Ridgeway could hold 825 pupils. In 2013, the school was selected by the Education and Skills Funding Agency to be 1 of 12 northwest schools to be rebuilt over the next several years. The £12m rebuild was finished in late 2017. In 2009, Ridgeway was slated to be absorbed into Birkenhead Park School along with Park and Rock Ferry High Schools. Foundation School
In England and Wales, a foundation school is a state-funded school in which the governing body has greater freedom in the running of the school than in community schools. Foundation schools were set up under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 to replace grant-maintained schools, which were funded directly by central government. Grant-maintained schools that had previously been voluntary controlled or county schools (but not voluntary aided) usually became foundation schools. Birkenhead Park School
Birkenhead Park School is a co-educational 11–16 secondary school with academy status near Birkenhead Park, in Birkenhead on the Wirral Peninsula in England. It was renamed University Academy Birkenhead in 2011 from the merger of Park High School and Rock Ferry High School and was based at the former Park High School site. It was a Grammar School (Park High Grammar School for Girls ) from 1926 to 1971, then went Co Educational in 1971 and was then just called Park High School. University Academy Birkenhead was sponsored by the University of Chester, the University of Liverpool, Birkenhead Sixth Form College, Wirral Metropolitan College and Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council. In April 2015 the school transferred to the control of the BePART Educational Trust, with Birkenhead Sixth Form College as sole sponsor, and took its current name. Hope Academy
Hope Academy is a coeducational secondary school with academy status located in Newton-le-Willows in the English county of Merseyside. History St Aelred's Catholic Technology College was a school specialising in Technology located on Birley Street with around 1,300 pupils in 2020. Newton-le-Willows Community High School was a community school administered by St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council with around 900 pupils. The two schools merged in September 2011 as Hope Academy, now a joint-faith school sponsored by Liverpool Hope University, the Anglican Diocese of Liverpool and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool. The Academy is built on the site of the playing fields on Newton-Le-Willows Community High School, with the existing school later demolished once the Academy opened, and the new Academy's playing field constructed on the site of the old school.
