Richard Southall (1831 – 4 February 1909) was mayor of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in 1888. Personal life Richard Southall was born in 1831 in Marylebone, London, England, the son of Richard Southall and Margaret (née Manay), and educated in London.Richard Southall, Esq., J.P.,. James Hipwood
James Hipwood (2 December 1842 – 22 January 1926) was an Australian politician. He was an alderman on the Brisbane Municipal Council from 1884 to 1897, and mayor of Brisbane, Queensland from 1886 to 1887. Personal life James Hipwood was born in Sydney on 2 December 1842, the son of William Hooper Hipwood and Mary Ann (née Hayes). He was educated to age 13 at St Andrew's School. He married Mary Ann McCready at St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney on 22 September 1864. Royal Humane Society Of Australasia
The Royal Humane Society of Australasia (RHSA), formerly the Victorian Humane Society, is an Australian charity dedicated to the recognition of those who risk their own lives in saving or attempting to save the lives of others. It also provides assistance to persons injured as a result of their bravery, or to their next of kin if they perished in the attempt. The roots of the organisation lie in an act of bravery that inspired the citizens of Melbourne, Victoria. In July 1873, the pilot schooner ''Rip'' was badly damaged in a storm off Point Nepean. Able Seaman James Marr, clinging to a broken mast in the water, urged the crew to save the ship by cutting the mast, and himself, adrift. The Town of Brisbane was a local government area for Brisbane in Queensland, Australia from 1859 to 1903. History The Municipality of Brisbane was gazetted on 25 May 1859 and proclaimed by the Governor of New South Wales on 7 September 1859. The first local government area in Queensland, Brisbane was the only one incorporated prior to the establishment of Queensland as a separate colony. The Logan River ( Yugambeh: ''Dugulumba'') is a perennial river located in the Scenic Rim, Logan and Gold Coast local government areas of the South East region of Queensland, Australia. The -long river is one of the dominant waterways in South East Queensland that drains the southern ranges of the Scenic Rim and empties into Moreton Bay after navigating the City of Logan, a major suburban centre located south of Brisbane.
