Richard Philipps, 1st Baron Milford (first Creation)
Richard Philipps, 1st Baron Milford (1744 – 28 November 1823), known as Sir Richard Philipps, Bt, from 1764 to 1776, was a Welsh landowner and Tory politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1765 and 1812. Background and education Philipps was the son of Sir John Philipps, 6th Baronet, of Picton Castle, and was educated at Pembroke College, Oxford. He succeeded in the baronetcy in 1764. Political career Philipps was returned to parliament for Pembrokeshire in 1765 (succeeding his deceased father), and held the seat at the 1768 general election. However, in 1770 his election was declared void. In 1774 he was returned for Plympton Erle in Devon, a seat he held until 1779. In 1776 he was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Milford. As this was an Irish peerage he was able to remain in the House of Commons. He was out of parliament until 1784, when he was returned for Haverfordwest. This is a list of people who have served as Lord Lieutenant of Pembrokeshire. After 1715, all Lord Lieutenants were also Custos Rotulorum of Pembrokeshire. The county corporate of Haverfordwest was included in this lieutenancy, except for the period from 1761 to 1931, when there was a separate Lord Lieutenant of Haverfordwest. Baron Milford
Baron Milford is a title that has been created three times, once in the Peerage of Ireland and twice in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. All three creations have been for members of the same family. The first creation came in the Peerage of Ireland in 1776 when Sir Richard Philipps, 7th Baronet, of Picton Castle was made Baron Milford (there was no territorial designation). However, this title became extinct on his death in 1823, while the baronetcy was passed on to a distant relative (see the Viscount St Davids). The title was revived in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1847 when Sir Richard Philipps, 1st Baronet, of Picton Castle was created Baron Milford, of Picton Castle in the County of Pembroke. William Edwardes, 1st Baron Kensington
William Edwardes, 1st Baron Kensington (c. 1711 – 13 December 1801) of Johnston Hall, Pembrokeshire, was a British landowner and a long-standing Member of Parliament. Edwardes was the second surviving son of Francis Edwardes, Member of Parliament for Haverfordwest, and Lady Elizabeth Rich, only daughter of Robert Rich, 5th Earl of Warwick and heiress of her nephew Edward Henry Rich, 7th Earl of Warwick. The Edwardes family owned extensive lands in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire and on the death of his cousin the 7th Earl in 1721 and his elder brother in 1738, William inherited the additional estates of the Rich family, which included Holland House in Kensington. In 1776 he was created Baron Kensington in the Peerage of Ireland. William Fullarton
Colonel William Fullarton of Fullarton (12 January 1754 – 13 February 1808) was a Scottish soldier, statesman, agriculturalist and author. He sat in the House of Commons between 1779 and 1803. Early life He was born on 12 January 1754 the only son of William Fullarton of Fullarton, a wealthy Ayrshire gentleman. After spending some time at the University of Edinburgh he was sent to travel on the continent with Patrick Brydone, at one time the travelling tutor of William Beckford, and visited Sicily and Malta. Fullarton was at first intended for the diplomatic service, and was attached as secretary to Lord Stormont's embassy in Paris; but on his accession to the family estates he went to England and secured his election to parliament for the borough of Plympton Erle in 1779. John Durand (c. 1719 – 1788), of Woodcote Lodge, Carshalton, Surrey, was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1768 and 1784. William Baker (1743–1824)
William Baker (3 October 1743 – 20 January 1824) was a British politician. Life William Baker was the eldest son of Sir William Baker, MP, educated at Eton College (1753–60). Admitted to Clare College, Cambridge in 1761, he did not matriculate there. He studied law at the Inner Temple (1761), where he was called to the bar in 1775. He succeeded his father in 1770, inheriting and renovating the Bayfordbury country house in Hertfordshire. He was elected a Sheriff of London for the same year. Baker was the Member of Parliament for Aldborough 4 March 1777 – 8 September 1780, Hertford 7 September 1780 – 30 March 1784, Hertfordshire 23 June 1790 – 10 July 1802 and 11 February 1805 – 11 May 1807 and Plympton Erle 22 March 1768 – 10 October 1774. Captain Paul Henry Ourry (1719–1783) was a Royal Navy officer and British politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1763 to 1775. Early life Ourry was the second son of Louis Ourry, a Huguenot of Blois and his wife Anne Louise Beauvais, daughter of Louis Beauvais and was born on 3 October 1719. Naval career Ourry joined the Royal Navy and was Lieutenant in 1742 serving on HMS ''Elizabeth'' from 1742 to 1744 and saw action at the Battle of Toulon.
