''Restaurant'' magazine is a British magazine aimed at chefs, restaurant proprietors and other catering professionals that concentrates on the fine dining end of the restaurant industry. History and profile ''Restaurant'' was founded in 2001. The magazine is published monthly by William Reed Business Media and had a circulation of 16,642 in December 2011. William Reed is a digital, high value data and events business serving the food and drinks sector. In 2021, it had offices in five locations - in Crawley, London, Montpellier, Singapore and Chicago. Early history In 1862, William Reed founded his own publishing company, ''William Reed Publishing'' in London. With the contacts he had made working in the grocer industry and the knowledge he had gained, he launched his first journal, ''The Grocer'', from his premises based in Bow Lane, London. The World's Best 50 Restaurants is a list produced by UK media company William Reed, which originally appeared in the British magazine ''Restaurant'' in 2002. ''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper.
