Regionuli Liga
Regionuli Liga (Georgian: რეგიონული ლიგა), run by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the fifth and lowest division of the Georgian league system after Erovnuli Liga, Erovnuli Liga 2, Liga 3 and Liga 4. Its participants are both professional clubs and reserve teams of higher league members. Prior to the introduction of Liga 4 in 2019, Regionuli Liga was the fifth tier. Structure As the name implies, the league is based on regional principle. Depending on the number of participating clubs, it is divided into several groups. In 2017, there were forty teams allocated in three groups. The next year two zones were created for teams based in Western Georgia and two more for the eastern regions. This regulation lasted three seasons until 2021, when the league was split into two groups. The number of promoted clubs per season also varies. FC Samtskhe Akhaltsikhe
FC Samtskhe ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი სამცხე) is a Georgian association football club based in Akhaltsikhe, which currently competes in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of the national league system. History Samtskhe was established in 2019 on the basis of Akhaltsikhe Sport School. The next year they joined Regionuli Liga competition as the second team of the city along with Meskheti. Due to COVID and relevant restrictions related to it the season consisted of 13 games only. The debutants prevailed in their very first game over Tori Borjomi and overall performed well enough not only to retain their place in the league, but also to finish in the top five, four points short of the promotion spot. In March 2021, the team eliminated Liga 4 side Sulori Vani from the national Cup. FC Abuli ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი აბული) is a Georgian association football club based in Akhalkalaki which currently competes in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of the Georgian league system. FC Zana ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი ზანა) is a Georgian association football club based in the town of Abasha. Following the 2023 season, they won promotion to Liga 4, the forth tier of the national league system. History The third tier is the highest division where Zana have taken part since the formation of independent Georgian championship in 1990. The team gained promotion to Meore Liga in 2015, although their tenure there lasted two seasons. Following their relegation in 2016, Zana spent seven seasons in Regionuli Liga. FC Mertskhali ( ka, მერცხალი ოზურგეთი; English: Swallows) is a Georgian association football club from Ozurgeti, currently playing in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of the national league system. The club has spent four seasons in Umaglesi Liga, the top Georgian division. History Early period Founded in 1936, the team finished 2nd in Division 2 in 1938 and advanced to the main league of the Soviet Georgian championship. In 1958 they claimed their first bronze medals. FC Egrisi Senaki
FC Egrisi is a Georgian association football club based in the town of Senaki. The club competes in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of Georgian football system. The team has played one season in the top flight. History The club had different names in 1940-60s and as Spartaki, Gantiadi, Tsiskari and Kolkheti participated in the Georgian domestic league. In the most memorable event in 1970, they won the republican Cup competition. Since then the football club has been competing under the current name. FC Imereti (Georgian: საფეხბურთო კლუბი იმერეთი) is a Georgian association football club from the town of Khoni. They currently take part in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of the national league system. History Founded in 1936, Imereti spent many years in Georgian Soviet championship under the name ''Imereti Tsulukidze''. The second division has been the highest league they participated at any time since 1990. In 2014/15 Imereti, trained by manager Koba Zhorzhikashvili, won a tight competition against Sulori Vani for promotion to Pirveli Liga. FC Gonio ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი გონიო) is a Georgian association football club based in Gonio, the southern settlement of Batumi. They started taking part in the national league in 2021 and have since achieved two promotions within the three seasons. As winners of the 2023 season in Liga 4, Gonio have secured a place in Liga 3 for 2024. Kaspi ( ka, კასპი) is a town in central Georgia on the Mtkvari River. It is a center of Kaspi district, one of the four districts in Shida Kartli region. FC Gardabani (Georgian: სკ გარდაბანი) is a Georgian association football club from the city of Gardabani. Within less than a decade since joining Georgian football, Gardabani have had different years from the lowest division to the 2nd tier.
