Reform Conservatives
The Reform Conservatives (''Die Reformkonservativen'', REKOS) was a conservatism, conservative List of political parties in Austria, political party in Austria. The party was launched on 23 December 2013 by Ewald Stadler, a former member of the National Council (Austria), National Council and eurosceptic Member of the European Parliament, MEP for the Freedom Party of Austria, Freedom Party (FPÖ) and the Alliance for the Future of Austria, Alliance for the Future (BZÖ). In the run-up of the 2014 European Parliament election in Austria, 2014 European Parliament election, REKOS formed a joint list with the Christian Party of Austria (CPÖ). The Reform Conservatives want to abolish the European Parliament and to reverse the 1992 Maastricht Treaty that created the European Union. The 2014 European Parliament election in Austria was held on 25 May 2014 in Austria. As a result of the Lisbon Treaty Austria held 19 seats in the European Parliament, but with Croatia joining the Union in 2013, Austria's allocation was reduced to 18 seats. Background Three Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) decided to stand in the election again, but not for their original parties. Alexander Tschugguel
Alexander Tschugguel (born 24 June 1993) is an Austrian conservative political and Traditionalist Catholic activist. He has been active in the anti-abortion movement, critical of the international community's focus on climate change, and has campaigned against same-sex marriage in Austria and Germany. Tschugguel is a founding member of The Reform Conservatives, a now-inactive Austrian conservative political party focused on abolishing the European Parliament. In November 2019 Tschugguel received international attention for stealing statuettes, reportedly of Pachamama, that were on display inside the church of Santa Maria in Traspontina in Rome as part of the Amazon synod, and throwing them off the Ponte Sant'Angelo into the Tiber. Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) was a Eurosceptic political group in the European Parliament. The group was formed following the 2009 European parliamentary election, mostly composed of elements of the Independence/Democracy (IND/DEM) and Union for a Europe of Nations (UEN) groups that had existed during the 6th European Parliament. The group had a loose relationship with Movement for a Europe of Liberties and Democracy (MELD), a European political party founded in 2011.
