Ray Groom
Raymond John Groom (born 3 September 1944) is an Australian lawyer and former sportsman and politician, representing the Liberal Party in the Federal Parliament 1975–84 and the Tasmanian Parliament 1986–2001. He was a Federal and state minister for a total of 13 years. He was Premier of Tasmania from 1992 to 1996 and also served as Deputy Premier and Attorney-General. Early life Ray Groom was born in Elsternwick, a suburb of Melbourne. His family moved to Tasmania when he was a young child. He attended schools in both Victoria and Tasmania. John White (Australian Politician)
John Charles White (2 October 1942 – 20 June 2020) was a Tasmanian Labor politician during the years 1986 to 1999. He was the son of Alfred White (MHA from 1941–1959). White was first elected as a member for Denison in 1986. He held the position of Health Minister during 1989–1992. During 1992–1998 he was shadow minister for arts, justice, environment and Aboriginal affairs. In August 1998 he resigned from his lower house seat to contest the upper house seat of Newdegate. He was successful and took the position in September 1998. In June 1999, Newdegate was abolished when the size of parliament was reduced. Matthew Guy Groom (born 24 November 1970) is an Australian lawyer and former politician. He was a Liberal Party of Australia (Tasmanian Division), Liberal Party member for Division of Denison (state), Denison in the Tasmanian House of Assembly from 2010 to 2018. He served as Minister for State Growth, Energy, Environment, Parks and Heritage. Groom also acted as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice during the extended illness of the late Vanessa Goodwin. Christopher Gordon Miles (born 21 August 1947) is an Australian former politician. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998, representing the Tasmanian seat of Braddon. He served as parliamentary secretary to Prime Minister John Howard and was a prominent social conservative within the Liberal Party, chairing the conservative Lyons Forum ginger group. Ron Davies (Tasmanian Politician)
Ronald Davies (25 July 1919 – 5 June 1980) was an Australian politician. Born in Latrobe, Tasmania, he was educated at state schools and then the University of Tasmania, becoming a teacher. He served in the military 1942–1945. In 1958, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Labor member for Braddon, defeating Liberal MP Aubrey Luck. He was only the second Labor member ever to win the seat, previously known as Darwin, and the first since 1917.
