Rafael Pont Flores
Rafael Pont Flores (1909-1980) was an educator, sportsman and journalist. He was from the town of Aibonito, Puerto Rico. He directed the "Escuela del Departamento de Instrucción Pública" Magazine. As a sport chronicler he was honored by being included in the Hall of the Immortals of the Crónica Deportiva en Puerto Rico. He collaborated with newspapers such as; El Mundo, El Imparcial and El Nuevo Dia. He published works such as ''El deporte en broma y en serio'' in 1951 and ''Un Puertorriqueño en España'' in 1969. Aibonito, Puerto Rico
Aibonito () is a small mountain town and municipality in Puerto Rico located in the Sierra de Cayey mountain range, north of Salinas; south of Barranquitas and Comerío; east of Coamo; and west of Cidra, and Cayey. Aibonito is spread over 8 ''barrios'' and Aibonito Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. Aibonito is located at a relatively high elevation (its main square is the highest in the island at 2,401 ft 31 mabove sea level), which makes its climate cooler than most of Puerto Rico's towns. Etymology and nicknames There are several theories and stories regarding the name of the town. Some people say that it is derived from the Taíno word ''Jatibonicu'', which was the name of a legendary cacique (chief) of the area, but most likely was the name of the tribe lead by chief Orocobix. El Mundo (Puerto Rico)
''El Mundo'' () was "an anti-''Popular'', conservative broadsheet" Puerto Rican newspaper founded in 1919 by Romualdo Real. Its slogan was "Verdad y Justicia" (Truth and Justice). In 1929, former corrector-turned-administrator Angel Ramos and journalist José Coll Vidal, bought the newspaper when Real retired. In 1946 Ramos was the sole owner of the newspaper. Acquisitions ''El Mundo'' acquired WKAQ AM, the oldest radio station on the island, and later added WKAQ-TV channel 2. ''El Mundo'' also established WKAQ-FM, but it is unknown if the current station at 104.7 MHz was part of the operation in the Ramos days. The paper's radio operations were owned by "El Mundo Broadcasting", and the television station was owned by Telemundo; the Telemundo name would later be used by a mainland group of stations for the namesake Telemundo network now owned by NBC Universal, which also owns WKAQ-TV. ''El Imparcial'', founded in 1918, was a newspaper in Puerto Rico. It circulated daily, except Sundays./ ''About El Imparcial. (San Juan, P.R.) 1918-197?.''] United States Library of Congress. Retrieved 26 July 2012. Its complete name was ''El Imparcial: El diario ilustrado de Puerto Rico.'' ''El Imparcial'' was given new life in 1933 under the leadership of Antonio Ayuso Valdivieso. The paper Valdivieso bought that year for $2,000 at an auction was described as a "floundering literary periodical" in his obituary; under his leadership it became Puerto Rico's second largest newspaper (after '' El Mundo (Puerto Rico), El Mundo'').
