Rūta Ščiogolevaitė-Damijonaitienė
Rūta Ščiogolevaitė-Damijonaitienė (born 25 June 1981) is a Lithuanian singer. She decided late in her career that she wanted to be known as just Rūta. Life and career Early life Ščiogolevaitė was born on 25 June 1981 and raised in Šiauliai, Lithuania. She attended a local music school in her birth city, Šiauliai. Afterwards, she developed her interest in music, including piano classes, at the age of 14 in one of the most professional conservatoires of the country in the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius. After graduation in 2001, Ščiogolevaitė was still engaging on music despite her regular studies in university. Music career On repeated occasions, she appeared in various prestigious concerts and TV shows as well as projects of joint musicians. In 1998, was released her first solo album called "Rūta. Lithuania was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "What's Happened to Your Love?", composed by Michalis Antoniou and Linas Adomaitis, with lyrics by Camden-MS, and performed by Linas and Simona. The Lithuanian participating broadcaster, (LRT), organised the national final in order to select its entry for the contest. The broadcaster returned to the contest after a one-year absence following its relegation from as one of the bottom five entrants in . The national final took place over seven weeks and involved 52 competing entries. In the final, eighteen entries remained and "What's Happened to Your Love?" performed by Linas and Simona was selected as the winner by the combination of votes from a jury panel and a public vote. Lithuania was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "I've Been Waiting for This Night", written by Jonas Thander and Beatrice Robertsson. The song was performed by Donny Montell, who previously represented Lithuania in the 2012 contest with the song "Love Is Blind", placing 14th in the final. The Lithuanian broadcaster Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT) organised the national final ''"Eurovizijos" dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka'' (Eurovision Song Contest national selection) in order to select the Lithuanian entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden.
