Rønnebæksholm
Rønnebæksholm is a former manor house located just outside Næstved in south-eastern Denmark. The estate covers 230.5 hectares of land. It was acquired by Næstved Municipality in 1998 and is now run as a cultural centre, hosting a wide range of cultural events, both indoor and outdoor, including art exhibitions, concerts, talks and theatrical performances. Today, the Rønnebæksholm Arts and Culture Centre is a self-owning institution. The main building plays host to four to six exhibitions. The emphasis is on modern and contemporary visual arts. History The estate is first mentioned in written sources dating back to 1321. Although the Due noble family had formerly owned the estate, from 1321 until 1399 it was owned by members of the Moltke family. In 1399, Fikke Moltke ceded the property to Margaret I, and it then remained in possession of the Danish monarchy until the 16th century. Ane Marie Elise Carlsen
Ane Marie Elise Toft, later Grundtvig, née Carlsen (4 August 1813 – 9 July 1854) was a wealthy Danish landowner who owned and efficiently administered the Rønnebæksholm estate near Næstved which she had inherited from her first husband following a marriage lasting less than two years. She opened up Rønnebæksholm to religious revivalists, attracting both clerics and laymen to the estate. In 1851, she married the influential philosopher, N. F. S. Grundtvig, N.F.S. Grundtvig, who had visited the estate in 1846. Her manor house subsequently became one of the principal centres of Grundtvigian activity while Grundtvig became deeply devoted to Toft, treating her as his independent and spiritually equal partner. Franziska Carlsen
Franziska Antoinette Hilleborg Carlsen (13 November 1817 – 28 February 1876) was a Danish writer who was particularly interested in local history and folklore. She was also a keen collector of items of historical interest. With the publication of her pioneering ''Noget om og fra Rønnebæk Sogn med Rønnebæksholm'' (Something about and from the parish of Rønnebæk and Ronnebæakshlom Manor) in 1861, she became one of the few women of her times to publish works documenting local folklore. Næstved () is a town in Næstved Municipality, the municipality of the same name, located in the southern part of the island of Zealand (Denmark), Zealand in Denmark. Pros Mund
Pros Mund (ca. 1589–13 October 1644) was a Danish-Norwegian admiral during the Thirty Years War. He saw action as a commander in the Torstenson War against Sweden and died at sea in battle. Early life Pros Mund was born in Eidanger in Norway and was the son of Nils Sørensen Mund of Bjerkevold and Ingeborg Prosdatter Hørby. He became naval lieutenant in 1624 and was promoted to captain in 1628. That year he was stationed in the southern part of the Baltic Sea, where he counteracted the Imperial designs for a fleet based in Rostock, Warnemünde, Wismar, and Greifswald, also supporting the defense of Stralsund. In 1630 he was sent first to the Faroe Islands and the coast of Norway to defend trade shipping against piracy and later participated in the fight against Hamburg on the Elbe, where he patrolled with two ships the following year. Carl Juel
Carl Juel (22 June 1706 – 1 September 1767), was a Danish statesman and court official, councillor, and diocesan governor (Norway), diocesan governor. Early life and education Carl Juel was born on 22 June 1706 in Copenhagen. He was the son of statesman and nobleman Knud Juel (1665–1709) and Christine Elisabeth Knuth (1675–1738). His paternal grandfather was the admiral Niels Juel. His older brother, Niels Juel (1696–1766), was a court official. Career He served as courtier to the queen, Sophie Magdalene of Brandenburg-Kulmbach, and he married the queen's maid-of-honor Christiane Henriette Louise von Schleinitz in 1738.
