Rößel
Reszel (; Prussian language, Prussian: ''Resel'' or ''Resl'') is a town in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northeastern Poland. As of 2012 the population was 4,896. A small medieval town situated in the historical Warmia region, Reszel possesses many architecturally-renowned monuments and various attractions. The Gothic architecture, Gothic Reszel Castle, castle, the main square and the core surrounded by brick defense walls are very popular among incoming tourists. History Reszel was originally a settlement built by the Bartians, Bartian tribe of Old Prussians and conquered by the Teutonic Knights in 1241. The native Prussians later recaptured the settlement and held it for five years, but were eventually defeated by the Germans, German Northern Crusades, crusaders. Reszel received its German town law, town privileges in 1337 under Chełmno Law. Reszel Castle
Reszel Castle (Polish language, Polish: ''Zamek w Reszlu'', ) is a castle located in Reszel by the bank of the river Sajna (river), Sajna, in the south-east of the town. The castle, an Ordensburg , Ordensburg fortress, was built in between 1350 and 1401 by the Teutonic Order. The castle was frequently looted, Siege, besieged and gained by Kingdom of Poland (1385–1569), Polish and Teutonic forces. In the nineteenth century the castle was adapted into a prison, the castle was fully renovated after the World War II, Second World War. Currently the castle houses the branch of the Museum of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Olsztyn, (Polish language, Polish: ''Muzeum Warmii i Mazur w Olsztynie''), a hotel and a restaurant.
