Römerstein (mountain)
Römerstein is a mountain of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It lies on a plateau, whose highest point is above sea level. The municipality of Römerstein in the district of Reutlingen, in which territory it lies, is named after it. Although the Romans in Donnstetten(Clarenna) settled immediately east of the mountain between AD 85-260, the name is not derived from them but from the name of the family Rem, which was established in the 14th Century in the region. The forested crest of the hill rises an average of only about 70 metres above its immediate surroundings, but due to its location (near the northwest Albtrauf, above the deep Lenninger Lautertal and by the falling south plateau) it offers excellent visibility. Lookout tower At the highest point of the mountain is the tower. This was built in 1912 by the ''Swabian Albverein'' (one of the oldest hiking clubs in Germany). Albtrauf
The term Albtrauf (Alp escarpment) refers to the northwest facing escarpment of the Swabian Alps, situated in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. It is the most distinctive stepped slope within the alpine region of the South German Scarplands, leading roughly from the southwest to the northeast. The Albtrauf has its geological extension in the northeast, in the stepped slopes of the Franconian Jura and in the southwest and west among the Jurassic period stepped slopes of the Baaralb, Hegaualb, Randen, Klettgau, Aargau as well as the Table Jura stretches from the city of Basel to the Ajoie and the French Scarplands. In geology and geomorphology, however, the term “Trauf” merely describes the brink of the stepped slopes where various stepped surfaces meet (which is not developed in hipped steps). Lenningen
Lenningen (; ) is a municipality in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Neighbour communities Those are in the east Wiesensteig (district of Göppingen), in the south Römerstein and Grabenstetten (both district of Reutlingen), in the west Erkenbrechtsweiler, in the northwest Owen and in the north Bissingen an der Teck and Neidlingen (all district of Esslingen). Lauter (Neckar)
The Lauter () is a right tributary of the Neckar in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It arises on the Albtrauf escarpment of the Swabian Alb. History The Lauter is formed by the confluence of the White Lauter, which rises east of Gutenberg and the Black Lauter, which arises near Schlattstall in Lenningen. Both streams are fed from multiple sources at each edge of the valley. The villages are part of the district of Esslingen. Swabian Alps
The Swabian Jura ( , more rarely ), sometimes also named Swabian Alps in English, is a mountain range in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, extending from southwest to northeast and in width. It is named after the region of Swabia. It is part of the Table Jura (). The Swabian Jura occupies the region bounded by the Danube in the southeast and the upper Neckar in the northwest. In the southwest it rises to the higher mountains of the Black Forest. The highest mountain in the region is the Lemberg ().
