Ružinov (, , ) is a borough of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, located in the Bratislava II district. It is the city's second most populated borough, housing over 80,000 inhabitants and its Nivy neighbourhood is the place of the emerging new city center of Bratislava. Ružinov features extensive residential areas, as well as major industrial facilities and transport infrastructure including the Milan Rastislav Štefánik international airport and the D1 motorway. The borough features the Slovnaft refinery, Avion Shopping Park mall, Ružinov hospital, Štrkovec lake, Zlaté Piesky recreational area and numerous schools and churches. Nivy
Nivy (literally: Floodplains) is a neighborhood of the Ružinov borough of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, located in the Bratislava II district. At the end of the 19th century, the area underwent massive industrialization becoming the first industrial part of Bratislava. In the 1950s to 1970s, the area was redeveloped into a residential suburb. At the end of the 20th century large-scale construction of office buildings started again to change the character of the neighborhood and in the 21st century, Nivy became the location of the emerging Central business district, new city centre of Bratislava. Slovnaft is an oil refining company in Slovakia. The company, located in Bratislava, is a subsidiary of MOL Group. History Slovnaft is the successor of the Apollo company. Apollo was established in 1895 in Bratislava. Its refinery was bombarded by the Allies in June 1944. Bratislava Apollo Bridge built over Danube is in proximity to the Apollo refinery historical site. The Slovnaft refinery started to be built in 1949. On 1 May 1992, Slovnaft was reorganized as a joint-stock company, as successor to a state enterprise formed by the Czechoslovak government on 1 January 1949. Nové Mesto (meaning ''New Town'') is a borough of Bratislava, in the Bratislava III district. It is located north and north-east of the Old Town, Bratislava, Old Town. D1 motorway is an east-west motorway () in Slovakia. The D1 motorway is the oldest, longest and busiest motorway in Slovakia, which is connects Bratislava with Trnava, Trenčín, Žilina, Martin, Poprad, Prešov, Košice to the Slovak- Ukrainian border (border crossing with Uzhhorod), where it is connected to the Ukrainian road M08. It is part of the European roads E50, E58, E75, E442, E571 and of the V.A Pan-European corridor (Trieste) - Bratislava - Žilina - Košice - Uzhhorod - Lviv. With the exception of sections in Bratislava, a vignette is required to use the motorway. M. R. Štefánik Airport — also called Bratislava Airport — is the main international airport of Slovakia. It is located approximately northeast of the city center of Bratislava, spanning over the area of three municipalities (Bratislava-Ružinov, Bratislava-Vrakuňa and Ivanka pri Dunaji). Prístavný most (literally ''Harbour Bridge'', until 1993 known as Most hrdinov Dukly or ''Dukla Heroes' Bridge'') is a double-floor motorway-railroad truss bridge over the Danube in Bratislava, Slovakia, near the Port of Bratislava. It lies on the D1 motorway. It is a 599 m long (1080 m with access roads) bridge (over the Danube part), and was built between 1977 and 1985. There are also pathways for pedestrians and cyclists on the bridge. Today, the bridge suffers from heavy traffic because it is a route for many commuters from Petržalka, and due to the lack of an outer circle around the city it is also a route for transfer traffic. The situation improved slightly after the opening of the nearby Apollo Bridge in 2005. Traffic jams are common around the bridge and they occur regularly at the end of each week and after traffic accidents.
