Ruža Petrović
Ruža Petrović (October 10, 1911 – August 24, 1958) was a Croatian anti-fascist and the victim of a fascist crime in Istria. Early life Ruža Petrović was born as Roža Hrelja on October 17, 1911 in a small village of Hreljina near Žminj. She was the oldest of eight children. Before the beginning of the World War II, she married Josip Hrelja with whom she had two daughters, one of which died a few months after birth. Since Josip died before the war, Ruža married Vazmoslav Paškvalin Petrović from the small settlement of Režanci in the village of Svetvinčenat. Participation in the anti-fascist movement Ruža Petrović was helping Yugoslav Partisans since the very beginning of the occupation of Istria by the Italian Social Republic. Skitača (Italian: Schitazza) is a small hamlet in west Croatia, in the eastern coast of Istria County, and is one of many settlements scattered in the County. These small settlements started to form in the 13-14th century continuing into the 19th century when Napoleon occupied the area. Even later when the Austria-Hungary got this region. During the early centuries most of the people came from the eastern parts of Europe as workers imported by rich landowners. The Croatian Democratic Union (, , HDZ) is a major conservative, centre-right political party in Croatia. Vladimir Nazor
Vladimir Nazor (30 May 1876 – 19 June 1949) was a Croatian poet and politician. During and after World War II in Yugoslavia, he served as the first President of the Presidency of the Croatian Parliament (Croatian head of state), and first Speaker of the Croatian Parliament. Nazor is a well-known poet, writer, translator, and humanist.
