Rundāle Municipality
Rundāle Municipality () is a former municipality in Semigallia, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2009 by merging Rundāle Parish, Svitene Parish and Viesturi Parish, the administrative centre being Pilsrundāle. The population in 2020 was 3,307. It was located in the south-east of Latvia and is only 15 km (9.3 mi) from the town Bauska and 80 km (49.7 mi) from Latvian capital Riga. The centre of the former municipality, Pilsrundāle, is the location of the Rundāle Palace, a famous tourist destination and one of the most notable Latvian chateaus. On 1 July 2021, Rundāle Municipality ceased to exist and its territory was merged with Bauska Municipality. Administrative Divisions Of Latvia
The current administrative division of Latvia came into force on 1 July 2021. On 10 June 2020, the Saeima approved a municipal reform that would reduce the 110 municipalities and nine republic cities to 43 local government units consisting of 36 municipalities (, ''novads'') and seven state cities (''valstspilsētas, valstspilsēta''). The municipalities are also further divided into 71 cities/towns (''pilsētas'', '' pilsēta'') and 512 parishes (''pagasti, pagasts''). On 1 June 2021, the Constitutional Court of Latvia ruled that the annexation of Varakļāni Municipality to Rēzekne Municipality was unconstitutional. Pilsrundāle is a village in the Rundāle Parish of Bauska Municipality in the Semigallia region of Latvia, approximately 40 kilometers from Jelgava. Pilsrundāle had 862 residents as of 2006. National Alliance (Latvia)
The National Alliance (, NA), officially the National Alliance "All for Latvia!" – "For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK" (), is a national-conservative political party in Latvia. It was formed as an electoral alliance for the 2010 Latvian parliamentary election between the For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK and All for Latvia! parties. Semigallia
Semigallia is one of the Historical Latvian Lands located to the south of the Daugava and to the north of the Saule region of Samogitia. The territory is split between Latvia and Lithuania, previously inhabited by the Semigallian Baltic tribe. They are noted for their long resistance (1219–1290) against the German crusaders and Teutonic Knights during the Northern Crusades. Merger (politics)
A merger, consolidation or amalgamation, in a political or administrative sense, is the combination of two or more political or administrative entities, such as municipalities (in other words cities, towns, etc.), counties, districts, etc., into a single entity. Bauska
Bauska () is a town in its Bauska Municipality, eponymous municipality, found in the Zemgale region of southern Latvia. Bauska is located from the Latvian capital Riga, 62 km (38.5 mi) from Jelgava and from the Lithuanian border on the busy European route E67.
