Rudolf Vojtěch Špillar
Rudolf Vojtěch Špillar (11 February 1878 – 22 March 1949) was a Czech painter and photographer. He wrote several manuals on the subject. Life and work Špillar was born on 11 February 1878 in Plzeň. His father was a financial officer for the city of Plzeň. His brothers, Jaroslav Špillar, Jaroslav and Karel Špillar, Karel also became painters. After completing his primary education, he found a position as a civil servant and worked as an amateur photographer; one of the first to practice pictorialism. In 1908, together with a professional photographer named Jan Špriňar, he wrote a ''Compendium of Practical Photography for Amateurs''. It became very popular throughout Austria-Hungary and was reissued in several new editions after the establishment of Czechoslovakia. Vinohrady Cemetery
Vinohrady Cemetery () is a large cemetery in Vinohrady in Prague 10 which contains Strašnice Crematorium. It is the second largest cemetery in Prague and is registered in the state list of cultural monuments. The remains of two Czech presidents are in this cemetery. History The cemetery dates from 1885 although it was at first smaller than its current size of . Over time the land has been extended three times. It ranks second by number of persons buried there. In terms of area, Ďáblice Cemetery is the largest in Prague. In 1897 the municipal architect Antonín Turek designed the simple chapel here which is near the entrance. This chapel is dedicated to St. Wenceslas and should not be confused with the more modern St. Wenceslas Church in nearby Vršovice. In front of this chapel are the graves of those who were killed in the Prague Uprising of May 1945 as well as a memorial to the children killed during the German occupation of Prague during the Second World War. National Library Of The Czech Republic
The National Library of the Czech Republic () is the central library of the Czech Republic. It is directed by the Ministry of Culture (Czech Republic), Ministry of Culture. The library's main building is located in the historical Clementinum building in the centre of Prague, where approximately half of its books are kept. The other half of the collection is stored in the district of Hostivař. The National Library is the biggest library in the Czech Republic, housing around 6 million documents.
