Royal Lancers
The Royal Lancers (Queen Elizabeths' Own) is a armoured cavalry regiment of the British Army. The regiment was formed by an amalgamation of the 9th/12th Royal Lancers, 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's) and the Queen's Royal Lancers on 2 May 2015. It serves as the armoured cavalry reconnaissance regiment for 1st Deep Reconnaissance Strike Brigade Combat Team, part of 3rd (United Kingdom) Division, 3rd (UK) Division. History It appears that the regimental amalgamation of the 9th/12th Royal Lancers, 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's) and the Queen's Royal Lancers was envisaged as part of Army 2020. The amalgamation was announced in July 2012, and the regiment was formed with an amalgamation parade before their colonel-in-chief, Elizabeth II, Queen Elizabeth II, at Richmond Castle on 2 May 2015. Heraldic Badge
A heraldic badge, emblem, impresa, device, or personal device worn as a badge indicates allegiance to, or the property of, an individual, family or corporate body. Medieval forms are usually called a livery badge, and also a cognizance. They are para-heraldic, not necessarily using elements from the coat of arms of the person or family they represent, though many do, often taking the crest (heraldry), crest or supporters.
