Royal AM F.C.
Royal AM (also known as "Thwihli Thwahla") was a South African football club based in Pietermaritzburg that played in the South African Premier Division, Premiership. History Originally, the club was called Kings United, before changing its name to Real Kings. In 2019, Shauwn Mkhize and her son Andile Mpisane purchased Real Kings, renaming it Royal AM. They bought their right to play in the top tier after purchasing the Premiership license from Bloemfontein Celtic F.C., Bloemfontein Celtic in August 2021. The club received a transfer ban from FIFA effective 3 July 2023 after unlawfully terminating the contract of Samir Nurkovic and failing to pay the outstanding amount of R12 million. Sponsorship controversy In August 2023, the heavily-indebted Msunduzi Local Municipality stated that it was going ahead with a R27 million three-year sponsorship of Royal AM. Harry Gwala Stadium
Harry Gwala Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches. It was previously the home ground of Maritzburg United F.C., Maritzburg United before the Msunduzi Local Municipality revoked their right to play there in 2023, and awarded it to Royal AM F.C., Royal AM. As of January 2025, all of Royal AM's fixtures have been postponed by the Premier Soccer League, PSL due to the club's preservation order over unpaid taxes by its owner. In 2008 the stadium had a capacity of 10,000, but around September 2009 it was upgraded to 12,000 seats in preparation for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup. The stadium was initially planned to hold 20,000 supporters, but the municipality decided that with the available funds at their disposal, the stadium would have a capacity of just 12,000. Kabelo Mahlasela
Kabelo Mahlasela (born 13 February 1991) is a South African soccer player who plays for South African Premier Division side Royal AM. Career Early career Born in Sebokeng, Mahlasela played youth football at Orlando Pirates, but failed to make a first team appearance there. He joined Roses United in 2012 before going on to play for Sivutsa Stars on loan and later Royal Eagles. Bloemfontein Celtic In August 2015, Mahlasela joined Bloemfontein Celtic on a three-year contract. He made his debut for Celtic, and only appearance for the club over the course of the 2015–16 season on 18 December 2015, coming on as a late substitute in a 2–1 defeat away to Chippa United. The 2015–16 SAFA Second Division (known as the ABC Motsepe League for sponsorship reasons) was the 18th season of the SAFA Second Division, the third tier league for South African association football clubs, since its establishment in 1998. SAFA Second Division
The SAFA Second Division (known as the ABC Motsepe League for sponsorship reasons, and previously the Vodacom League between 1998 and 2012, was founded in 1998 as the overall third tier of South African association football, football. Mfundo Thikazi (born 23 June 1999) is a South African professional soccer player who plays as a striker or winger for Premier Soccer League club Royal AM and the South Africa national team. Career Thikazi came through the youth academy at Royal Eagles F.C., however had only just broken through to the first team when the club was relegated from the PSL due to breaches in COVID-19 protocols.
