Roxette
Roxette is a Swedish pop rock duo originally consisting of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, both of whom were already established musicians in Sweden prior to the band's formation. Fredriksson had released a number of successful solo albums, while Gessle had been the lead singer and songwriter of Gyllene Tider, a band which had three number one albums in Sweden. Acting on the advice of Rolf Nygren, the Chief executive officer, CEO of their mutual record label EMI, Fredriksson and Gessle collaborated to record "Neverending Love", the first single from Roxette's 1986 debut album ''Pearls of Passion'', which were both hits in Sweden. Swedish pop rock duo Roxette has released ten studio albums (including six Swedish number ones), one live album, thirteen compilation albums, one remix album, eleven video albums, three box sets, fifty-six singles (including three Swedish and four US number ones) and twenty promotional singles, as well as fifty-two music videos. The duo, which consisted of Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson, are the second most commercially successful Swedish act of all time, after ABBA. They sold over 75 million records worldwide, although a report by the ''Los Angeles Times'' put the figure as high as 80 million. Marie Fredriksson
Gun-Marie Fredriksson (; 30 May 1958 – 9 December 2019) was a Swedish singer, songwriter, pianist, and lead vocalist of pop-rock duo Roxette, which she formed in 1986 with Per Gessle. The duo achieved international success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their albums ''Look Sharp! (Roxette album), Look Sharp!'' (1988) and ''Joyride (Roxette album), Joyride'' (1991), and had multiple hits on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100, including four number ones. "It Must Have Been Love", originally "It Must Have Been Love (Christmas for the Broken Hearted)", is a song written by Per Gessle and performed by the Swedish pop duo Roxette. "Joyride" is a song by Swedish pop duo Roxette. Written by Per Gessle, it was released on 25 February 1991 by EMI as the lead single from their third studio album, '' Joyride'' (1991). ''Tourism: Songs from Studios, Stages, Hotelrooms & Other Strange Places'' is the fourth studio album by Swedish pop duo Roxette, released on 28 August 1992 by EMI. Despite often being mistaken for a live album, the record was described by Roxette in its liner notes as a "tour album": the band recorded the majority of its material in numerous recording studios in between live dates of their worldwide Join the Joyride! Tour. The album contains three live concert recordings, while another track was recorded live in an empty nightclub in São Paulo. A further two songs were recorded in Buenos Aires' Alvear Palace Hotel. The album received mixed reviews from American publications upon release, with several of them confused over its concept and incorrectly describing it as containing just five previously unreleased songs. PG Roxette is a Swedish pop rock group, established by Per Gessle in 2021. History In September 2021, Per Gessle, Helena Josefsson, Dea Norberg, Clarence Öfwerman, Magnus Börjeson, Christoffer Lundquist and Jonas Isacsson, as PG Roxette contributed a cover of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" for the tribute album ''The Metallica Blacklist''. In 2022, Per Gessle announced Roxette would continue under the name PG Roxette. He explained: "Since the 80's, my whole life has been spinning around Roxette and to this day it's still what excites me the most. Per Håkan Gessle (; born 12 January 1959) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is best known as the male half and primary songwriter of the pop rock duo Roxette, which he formed with Marie Fredriksson in 1986 and which was disbanded after her death in 2019. The duo achieved international success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their albums '' Look Sharp!''
