Rowarth
Rowarth is a hamlet about 2.5 miles (4 km) north of New Mills in the High Peak borough of Derbyshire, England. It is on the edge of the Peak District, in the hills between New Mills and Marple Bridge, within the parish boundary of New Mills. The Little Mill Inn in Rowarth is a pub and restaurant in a former candlewick mill, with a waterwheel in the adjacent stream. Until 2023, it had a retired Brighton Belle Pullman railway coach which was once used as dining and guest accommodation. Geography The hamlet is only accessible by car on one road, and is most commonly used by walkers who are going to nearby Lantern Pike and Kinder Scout. The Peak District Boundary Walk runs through the village. New Mills
New Mills is a small town in the Borough of High Peak, Derbyshire, England, south-east of Stockport and from Manchester at the confluence of the River Goyt and River Sett, Sett. It is close to the border with Cheshire and above the Torrs, a deep gorge cut through carboniferous sandstone, on the north-western edge of the Peak District National Park. New Mills has a population of approximately 12,000, in a civil parish which includes the villages and Hamlet (place), hamlets of Whitle, Thornsett, Hague Bar, Rowarth, Brookbottom, Gowhole and Birch Vale. Brighton Belle
The ''Brighton Belle'' was a named train which was operated by the Southern Railway (UK), Southern Railway and subsequently by British Railways from London Victoria station, Victoria Station in London to Brighton, on the Sussex coast. Peak District Boundary Walk
The Peak District Boundary Walk is a circular walking trail, starting and finishing at Buxton and broadly following the boundary of the Peak District, Britain's first national park. The route was developed by the Friends of the Peak District (a branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England) and was launched on 17 June 2017. The Friends of the Peak District's founders, Gerald and Ethel Haythornthwaite, proposed the boundary of the Peak District National Park, which was subsequently established as the United Kingdom's first National parks of England and Wales, National Park in 1951. The route is waymarked with green markers and uses existing footpaths, tracks, quiet lanes, disused railway lines and a canal towpath. Peak District
The Peak District is an Highland, upland area in central-northern England, at the southern end of the Pennines. Mostly in Derbyshire, it extends into Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire. It is subdivided into the Dark Peak, moorland dominated by gritstone, and the White Peak, a limestone area with valleys and gorges. Marple Bridge
Marple Bridge is a district of Marple in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. The River Goyt runs through the centre of the village. Marple Bridge shares borders with Mellor, Marple, Compstall, New Mills, Strines, Mill Brow and Chisworth. Lantern Pike
Lantern Pike is a hill located just outside Hayfield, in Derbyshire, England. The land lies within the Peak District National Park and is owned and maintained by the National Trust. It is permanently open to the public. According to Ordnance Survey, it is in height (measured by air survey). According to the booklet ''10 Walks Around Hayfield'', published by the Peak District National Park Authority, the name ''Lantern Pike'' probably comes from the hill's use as a beacon. Kinder Scout
Kinder Scout is a moorland plateau and National nature reserve (United Kingdom), National Nature Reserve in the Dark Peak of the Derbyshire Peak District in England. Part of the moor, at above sea level, is the highest point in the Peak District, in Derbyshire and the East Midlands.
