Hope Islands National Park
Hope Islands National Park is a national park in Queensland (Australia) 1,521 km north-west of Brisbane. The park consists of four islands: East Hope and West Hope, Snapper Island and Struck Island. The Hope Islands are situated approximately 37 km south-east of Cooktown and about 8 km offshore () and officially part of the mainland locality of Rossville. Struck Island is a rocky outcrop just off Thornton Beach and south of Cape Tribulation. Snapper island is about two km long and is at the mouth of the Daintree River. Collingwood Water Race
Collingwood Water Race is a heritage-listed aqueduct at Monkhouse Timber Reserve, Rossville, Shire of Cook, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1902 to 1906. It is also known as Annan River Company Water Race. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 13 April 2006. History Construction of the Collingwood Water Race commenced in 1902 for the Collingwood Company but was halted within the year. The project was re-commenced and completed in 1905–1906 for the Annan River Company. On completion, the race was in length. The purpose of this project was to enable sluicing of tin bearing deposits on the northern face of Mount Walker in the Annan River Tin field. Endeavour Reef
Endeavour Reef is a coral reef within the Great Barrier Reef. It is within the Shire of Cook, Queensland, Australia. On 11 June 1770, the HM Bark ''Endeavour'' under the command of Lieutenant James Cook struck the reef and ran aground. History The reef was encountered by Lieutenant James Cook when HM Bark ''Endeavour'' ran aground there on 11 June 1770. In his journals, Cook described striking the south-eastern end of the reef at 11pm after having passed just north of Pickersgill Reef about one hour before. Cook named the reef Endeavour Rocks. The ''Endeavour'' crew discarded six cannons and ballast in order to refloat the ship. Hans Hass searched unsuccessfully for the cannons during several dives in December 1952. HMS ''Endeavour'' was a British Royal Navy research vessel that Lieutenant James Cook commanded to Tahiti, New Zealand and Australia on his First voyage of James Cook, first voyage of discovery from 1768 to 1771. James Cook
