Roseway is a neighborhood in the Northeast section of Portland, Oregon. Cully is a neighborhood in the Northeast section of Portland, Oregon and a former census-designated place (CDP). The neighborhood, as well as NE Cully Blvd. that runs diagonally through it, is named after English stonemason Thomas Cully (1810–1891), an early settler. Cully borders Sunderland, Concordia, and Beaumont-Wilshire on the west, Portland International Airport on the north, Sumner on the east, and Rose City Park and Roseway on the south. Neighborhood parks include Sacajawea Park (1985), Rigler Community Garden (2004), Kʰunamokwst Park (2015), and Whitaker Ponds Nature Park (1998). Nevertheless, Cully has the smallest amount of parkland per capita, and largest population living more than one-half mile from a park, of any Portland neighborhood. Madison South is a neighborhood in the Northeast section of Portland, Oregon. It is bordered by the Roseway, Sumner, Cully, Parkrose, Montavilla, and Rose City Park neighborhoods, and by the enclave city of Maywood Park. Rose City Park, Portland, Oregon
Rose City Park is a neighborhood (and a park of the same name) in Northeast Portland, Oregon. It borders Beaumont-Wilshire, Grant Park, and the Hollywood District on the west (at NE 47th Avenue), Cully on the north (at NE Fremont Street), Roseway and Madison South on the east (at NE 65th Avenue), and Center on the south (at the Banfield Expressway and MAX transit line). The neighborhood was platted in 1907, the year of the first Portland Rose Festival. Trolley service from Downtown Portland was inaugurated that year by the Portland Railway, Light & Power Co., and discontinued November 30, 1936. Loidis, from which Leeds, Yorkshire derives its name, was anciently a forested area of the Celtic kingdom of Elmet. The settlement certainly existed at the time of the Norman conquest of England and in 1086 was a thriving manor under the overlordship of Ilbert de Lacy. It gained its first charter from Maurice de Gant in 1207 yet only grew slowly throughout the medieval and Tudor periods. Gregory Heights Library
The Gregory Heights Library is a branch of the Multnomah County Library, in Portland in the U.S. state of Oregon. The branch offers the Multnomah County Library catalog of two million books, periodicals and other materials. The library branch first opened in 1938. The current branch, located at N.E. 79th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard, opened in 1966. It cost $83,000 to build, and was designed by the architecture firm Farnham and Peck. History The library operated as a small reading room at 3448 N.E. 72nd Avenue from 1938 through 1956, when the Library Association of Portland replaced it with a bookmobile. By 1962, the association had approved construction of a branch in the Gregory Heights neighborhood. The new Gregory Heights Library, at N.E. 79th Avenue and N.E. Roseway Theater
The Roseway Theater was a historic theater in northeast Portland, Oregon's Roseway neighborhood, in the United States, that operated for almost a century. The independent theater operated continually from 1925 to 2022, when it was destroyed by fire. Greg Wood had owned the Roseway since 2008. In the early morning of August 6, 2022, an electrical fire started in the theater and the building subsequently sustained significant damage, with more than 80 firefighters called in to pour water through the burned roof and collapsed interior stairwells.
