Rosedale is an unincorporated community in Russell County, Virginia, United States. Rosedale is located at the junction of U.S. Route 19 and Virginia State Route 80, south-southeast of Honaker. The community was founded in 1819. Rosedale has a post office with ZIP code 24280, which opened on February 26, 1897. Rosedale was named for the area's Rosedale Plantation; the plantation was either named after the couple who owned the property or named for a "rose valley". The community has also been known as Elway and Oaks Garage, the latter name coming from a service station in the settlement. State Route 80 is a primary state highway in the southwest part of the U.S. state of Virginia. It runs from the Kentucky state line at Breaks Interstate Park east to U.S. Route 11 near Meadowview. Kentucky Route 80 and Missouri's Route 80 continue the number west to Matthews, Missouri. The entire length of SR 80 is part of U.S. Bicycle Route 76. Honaker is a town in Russell County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,217 at the 2020 census. History Honaker was settled as early as 1772 when William Ferrill established a homesite in the area. During Dunmore's War of 1774 a fort, known as New Garden Fort, was established to protect the settlers from Indian raids. The Honaker Commercial Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. Geography Honaker is located in the Clinch River watershed.
