Roquefort-la-Bédoule (; ) is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southern France. Its inhabitants are called ''Bédoulens'' (masculine) and ''Bédoulennes'' (feminine). In 2018, Roquefort-la-Bédoule had a population of 5,896. Geography Roquefort-la-Bédoule is situated north of Cassis, Ceyreste and La Cadière-d'Azur, Var; south of Aubagne, Gémenos and Cuges-les-Pins; east of Carnoux-en-Provence; and west of Le Castellet, Var. History The town of Roquefort-la-Bédoule was founded in the 7th century. In 1966, the new commune of Carnoux-en-Provence was established on former Roquefort-la-Bédoule territory. Carnoux-en-Provence
Carnoux-en-Provence (; ), commonly referred to simply as Carnoux, is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southern France. It was created in 1966 from the commune of Roquefort-la-Bédoule. In 2018, Carnoux-en-Provence had a population of 6,564. Carnoux-de-Provence is located 16.3 km (10.3 mi) to the east-southeast of Marseille. Camp de Carpiagne, the garrison for the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment and formerly 1st-11th Cuirassier armoured (tank) regiment of the French Army, is found in the town's western part, as well as with territory in the 9th arrondissement of Marseille, Aubagne and Cassis, north of the renowned road from Marseille to Cassis. Gémenos (; ) is a commune located 20 kilometers east of Marseille in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southern France. Population History A property abstract belonging to Wilhem, Count of Marseille, dating back to February 9 934, noted for the first time the existence of a castrum named ''Geminas'' at the entry of the Saint Pons valley. In 1204, the bishop of Marseille ''Rainier'' founded the Cistercian abbey of Saint Pons. Around the 15th century, Geminas was deserted. In 1563 the Marquis d'Albertas Nicolas and his brother Gaspard, both of Italian origin, acquired the demesne of Gémenos, leading to the development of Gémenos as it is known today.
