Roots (EP)
The EP ''Roots'' was released by Orla Gartland on 11 November 2013. All songs on the album were performed by Orla Gartland. Prior to the album release, the title track "Roots" and the song "Clueless" were released as music videos. Reception The ''Irish Independent'' interviewed Gartland upon the release and reported that she "...just released her debut EP Roots which climbed to the number one slot during the first week of release on iTunes." UK based ''Fortitude Magazine'' wrote "Within its first day 'Roots' has already hit the No.1 spot in the UK and Ireland singer/songwriter charts and No.3 in Ireland's main chart." On 24 November, the ''Irish Mirror'' featured Gartland in a full-page article and stated "last Tuesday on iTunes her debut EP, Roots, hit No1 in the main Irish albums chart, 15 in the main UK albums chart and No2 in the US singer/songwriter chart." Orla Gartland
Orla Joan Gartland (born 3 February 1995) is an Irish singer, songwriter and musician. Gartland released her debut studio album, '' Woman on the Internet'', in 2021, which reached number 3 on the Irish album chart, number 1 on the UK Indie Chart, and number 10 on the UK Albums Chart. Her second studio album '' Everybody Needs a Hero'' came out in October 2024. Additionally, she has released five extended plays (EPs): ''Freckle Season'' (2020), ''Why Am I Like This?'' (2019), '' Lonely People'' (2015), ''Roots'' (2013), and ''Laughing at My Own Jokes'' (2012). In 2023, she joined the group Fizz, with Dodie, Greta Isaac, and Martin Luke Brown. Indie Pop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with a DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. Indie folk (also called alternative folk) is an alternative genre of music that arose in the 1990s among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music. Ian Dempsey (born 16 January 1961) is an Irish presenter of television and breakfast radio. He is the long-running presenter of the breakfast show on Today FM, self-titled ''The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show'', which runs from 6-9 am each weekday. ''The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show'' is an Irish breakfast radio show broadcast on weekday mornings from 06:00 – 09:00 on Today FM. Presented by Ian Dempsey, it is noted for its '' Gift Grub'' feature, performed by Mario Rosenstock. It is the tenth most popular radio programme in Ireland and was named best breakfast programme at the 2007 PPI Radio Awards. Today FM is an Irish commercial FM radio station, owned and operated by Bauer Media Audio Ireland Limited. Broadcasting since 17 March 1997, it broadcasts mostly music, with a daily news and current affairs programme.
