Roobarb
''Roobarb'' (also known as ''Roobarb and Custard'') is an animated children's television series, created by Grange Calveley and originally shown on BBC1 just before the evening news. Each cartoon of the original series, written by Calveley and directed by Bob Godfrey, was about five minutes long. Thirty episodes were made, and it was first shown on 21 October 1974. The theme is that of the friendly rivalry between Roobarb, a seven-year-old green dog with an overactive imagination, and Custard, the mischievous eight-year-old pink cat from next door. The series later spawned a revival in 2005, which aired on Channel 5's Milkshake block. The narration of both series was provided by the actor Richard Briers. On 17 February 2013, Briers died, followed four days later by animator Godfrey. Original series Roobarb is a green dog, and Custard is a pink cat. Grange Calveley
Grange Calveley (6 May 1943 – 22 August 2021) was a British artist and writer. He was best known as the creator of the BBC's animated television series ''Roobarb'' (1974) and ''Noah and Nelly in... SkylArk'' (1977). Calveley also wrote and made character drawings for the 2005 revival series, ''Roobarb#2005 series, Roobarb and Custard Too''. The series was commissioned by UK's Five (TV channel), Channel FIVE and directed by Jason Tammemagi. Early life Calveley was born on 6 May 1943 in Hale, Cheshire. His father was with the Scots Guards and was killed at Arezzo in 1944. Grange attended Bradbury Central school on Queens Road, Hale. After leaving Bradbury at age 15 he joined Osborne Peacock, a Manchester advertising agency and later attended art college on day release. Richard Briers
Richard David Briers (14 January 1934 – 17 February 2013) was an English actor whose five-decade career encompassed film, radio, stage and television. Briers first came to prominence as George Starling in '' Marriage Lines'' (1961–66), but it was a few years later, when he narrated ''Roobarb'' (1974–76) and '' Noah and Nelly in... Jason Tammemagi
Jason Tammemagi is the creator, writer and director of preschool show, '' Fluffy Gardens''. He also directed '' Roobarb & Custard Too'', '' Planet Cosmo'', and Irish animated drama, '' Ballybraddan''. Jason was Creative Director of Geronimo Productions (formerly Monster Animation & Design, production company of ''Fluffy Gardens'', ''Ballybraddan'', and '' Punky'') which was awarded European Producer of the Year at the Cartoon Forum 2011. He is now Creative Director of children's media company, Mooshku. Jason has a background in classical animation and directed commercials before working on ''Roobarb'' with A&B TV. Shaft was an English electronic music group, scoring a top 10 hit on the UK Singles Chart in December 1991 with "Roobarb & Custard". It featured recreated vocal samples from the vintage children's television cartoon ''Roobarb'', as well as a variety of sound effects. The main contributors were the British record producers Mark Pritchard and Adrian Hughes. Although the single reached the top 10 in 1991, it climbed to its highest position of No. 7 in January 1992. The People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) is the UK's leading veterinary Charitable organization, charity, carrying out more than one million free veterinary consultations a year. It was founded in 1917 by Maria Dickin to provide care for sick and injured animals of the poor. Until 2009, PDSA was the largest private employer of fully qualified veterinary surgeons and Paraveterinary workers, veterinary nurses in the UK. ''Eureeka's Castle'' is an American children's puppet television series created by Debby Beece and Judy Katschke. R. L. Stine developed the characters and was the head writer of the show. Johnny Hawksworth
Johnny Hawksworth (2 February 1924 – 13 February 2009) was a British jazz bass player and composer of library music widely used for television. He lived and worked in Australia from 1984. Biography Born in London in 1924, Hawksworth initially trained as a pianist, but also played double bass for Britain's leading big band the Ted Heath Orchestra during the early 1950s and through the 1960s. Scouts, often referred to as the Scout section to differentiate itself from the wider movement and its parent organisation, is a section of Scouting run by The Scout Association for ten and a half to fourteen year old young people. The section follows on from Cub Scouts (8-10½ year olds) and precedes Explorer Scouts (14-18 year olds).
