Romaine, Tasmania
Romaine is a suburb of the City of Burnie in north-west Tasmania, Australia. The Romaine Reserve is 12.69ha of park lands that runs down the eastern side of the suburb, along Romaine Creek. The Reserve contains both remnant and exotic vegetation, with large mountain ashes, white gums, substorey blackwoods and man ferns. The walking tracks link up with Brooklyn Reserve. Romaine Creek is home to Engaeus yabbimunna a freshwater crayfish. The Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden was created in 1981 and is now a tourist attraction. Education The Romaine Primary School was opened in 2012, it was announced in 2009 that its creation was from the merger of Acton Primary School, Upper Burnie and Brooklyn Primary Schools and that the new school was built on the grounds of the Parklands High School. Black Swan
The black swan (''Cygnus atratus'') is a large waterbird, a species of swan which breeds mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. Within Australia, the black swan is nomadic, with erratic migration patterns dependent upon climatic conditions. It is a large bird with mostly black plumage and a red bill. It is a monogamous breeder, with both partners sharing incubation and cygnet-rearing duties. The black swan was introduced to various countries as an ornamental bird in the 1800s, but has managed to escape and form stable populations. Described scientifically by English naturalist John Latham in 1790, the black swan was formerly placed into a monotypic genus, ''Chenopis''. Black swans can be found singly, or in loose companies numbering into the hundreds or even thousands. Burnie
Burnie is a port city on the north-west coast of Tasmania, Australia. When founded in 1827, it was named Emu Bay, being renamed after William Burnie, a director of the Van Diemen's Land Company, in the early 1840s. , Burnie had an urban population of 19,550. Burnie is governed by the City of Burnie local government area. Economy The key industries are heavy manufacturing, forestry and farming. The Burnie port along with the forestry industry provides the main source of revenue for the city. Burnie was the main port for the west coast mines after the opening of the Emu Bay Railway in 1897. Parklands is a residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Burnie in the North-west and west LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about north-west of the town of Burnie. The 2016 census recorded a population of 850 for the state suburb of Parklands. It is a suburb of the Burnie, in north-west Tasmania. Parklands High School is a government co-educational comprehensive secondary school located in , a suburb of , Tasmania, Australia. Established in 1958, the school caters for approximately 400 students from Years 7 to 12. The school is administered by the Tasmanian Department of Education. In 2019 student enrolments were 373. Rhododendron

Crayfish
Crayfish are freshwater crustaceans belonging to the clade Astacidea, which also contains lobsters. In some locations, they are also known as crawfish, craydids, crawdaddies, crawdads, freshwater lobsters, mountain lobsters, rock lobsters, mudbugs, baybugs or yabbies. Taxonomically, they are members of the superfamilies Astacoidea and Parastacoidea. They breathe through feather-like gills. Stowport is a rural residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Burnie in the North-west and west LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about south-east of the town of Burnie. The 2016 census has a population of 404 for the state suburb of Stowport. It includes Glance Creek in its population statistics. Burnie City Council (or City of Burnie) is a local government body in Tasmania, located in the city and surrounds of Burnie in the north-west of the state. The Burnie local government area is classified as urban and has a population of 19,348, which also encompasses Cooee, Hampshire, Natone and Ridgley. Originally named Emu Bay, the name was changed to Burnie in 1931 following a petition from residents to name the council based on the town it was centred on.
