Rolette County, North Dakota
Rolette County is a county in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 12,187, and was estimated to be 11,692 in 2024. Its county seat is Rolla. The County has been known to have approximately several lakes in the County, they're mostly north-west of the county and some are in the north, also North of Dunseith, and north-west of Rolla. Some of the international peace garden is located along the north-west of the county, and about 14 miles (22 km) North of the city of Dunseith among the highway US-281 and ND-3. History The Dakota Territory legislature created the county on January 4, 1873, with territory partitioned from Buffalo County. It was not organized at that date, and was not attached to another county for judicial or administrative purposes. It was named for Joseph Rolette Jr., a fur trader and political figure from Pembina. North Dakota Highway 43
North Dakota Highway 43 (ND 43) is a state highway located in extreme north-central North Dakota. It is about long and passes through Bottineau and Rolette counties. Route description ND 43 runs in a virtually east–west direction its entire length. Its western terminus is at ND 14 about south of the Canadian border and about north of Carbury. Shortly after the route begins, ND 43 enters Turtle Mountain State Forest, where the highway curves slightly but eventually straightens out again. In Roland Township, ND 43 passes south of Lake Metigoshe and crosses Oak Creek. North Dakota Highway 30 (ND 30) is a state highway in the U.S. state of North Dakota. The highway is currently broken up into three separate segments across the eastern half of North Dakota. Route description Southern section ND 30 begins at ND 13 in Lehr and runs north for 25.4 miles before turning left to remain north at ND 46's western terminus near Streeter. ND 30 remains heading due north until it breaks at I-94 near Medina. The road beyond the interchange leads to a county highway connecting I-94 to Medina. Central section The longest section of ND 30 starts at US 52 and ND 200 near Sykeston, and runs north for 13 miles until coming to a three way intersection with ND 15. North Dakota Highway 5 (ND 5) is a east–west state highway in North Dakota. Its route is in the extreme north part of the state, near the Canada–United States border. The eastern terminus is located about four miles (6 km) east of Joliette at the Red River where the highway continues east as Minnesota State Highway 175. The western terminus is at North Dakota's western border about west of Fortuna where the highway continues west and turns into Montana Highway 5. The highway is mostly a two-lane road. Route description ND 5 begins at the Montana state line near Westby, Montana, and goes east for 12 miles. Then it merges with US 85 and passes through Fortuna. Seven miles east of Fortuna, US 85 splits off southward, and ND 5 continues alone for six miles before merging with ND 42. North Dakota Highway 3 (ND 3) is a major north–south state highway in North Dakota, United States, that spans the entire state. It travels from South Dakota Highway 45 (SD 45) at the South Dakota state line, south of Ashley north to Manitoba Highway 10 (PTH 10) at the International Peace Garden on the Canada–United States border. Route description ND 3 starts at the South Dakota state line, where it meets SD 45. It runs north for 7 miles before turning left onto ND 11 in Ashley. ND 3 and ND 11 then run west for 8.5 miles before ND 3 turns north again. After 16.8 miles, it turns west onto ND 13 in Wishek. The two highways share the road until ND 3 turns right, continuing north towards I-94, passing through Napoleon and Dawson. U.S. Route 281 (US 281) is a north–south United States Numbered Highway. At it is the longest continuous three-digit U.S. Route. The highway's northern terminus is at the International Peace Garden, north of Dunseith, North Dakota, at the Canadian border, where it continues as Highway 10. The route between Dunseith and the border is shared with North Dakota Highway 3. US 281 has two southern termini. The western terminus, known as International Blvd. in Hidalgo, begins from the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge. The southern eastern terminus of US 281 is in Brownsville, Texas, just short of the Mexican border ending on Bus. 77.
