Roi Sumang
Shej Roi R. Sumang (born December 12, 1990) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Zamboanga Sikat of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). Early life He is the eldest of six children of Jess and Sheila Sumang. He grew up in the streets of Tondo, and already played basketball when he was a kid. He played for the Letran Squires in high school, where he became teammates with future PBA player Kevin Alas. He attended tryouts in Ateneo and San Beda, but he chose UE upon the proddings of former UE star and current PBA player Paul Lee, a fellow Tondo native. He dropped out of high school and was an out-of-school youth for two years playing pickup basketball games in different places, but his father convinced him to go back to school and play varsity ball. The NorthPort Batang Pier is a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) team that first played in the 2012–13 PBA season. The team took over the franchise of the Powerade Tigers in 2012 after it was sold to Sultan 900 Capital, Inc. UAAP Season 77 is the 2014–15 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The season host is the University of the East with Carmelita Mateo as president. Eight universities are competing in fifteen sports to vie for the general championship. Each sporting event is hosted by a school. Frederick "Derrick" S. Pumaren, better known by his nickname Manong Derrick, is a Filipino basketball coach who was recently the coach of the De La Salle Green Archers in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). It was hosted by National University. The men's basketball and the women's volleyball tournaments have been aired by ABS-CBN Channel 2 and Studio 23, the former for the thirteenth consecutive year and the latter since Season 69. This season, the men's football and women's softball both became a seven-school tournament. National University made a comeback in these two events.
