Roghun
Roghun (russian: Рогун; tg, Роғун; fa, راغون) is a city in Tajikistan. The city was the seat of the former Roghun District, and is part of the Districts of Republican Subordination. Its population is estimated at 14,900 for the city proper and 44,100 for the city with the outlying communities (2020). Roghun District (russian: Рогунский район) or Nohiyai Roghun ( tg, Ноҳияи Роғун) is a former district in the Districts of Republican Subordination in Tajikistan, bordering on Faizobod District from the west, the Vahdat District from the north-west, and the Nurobod District from the north-east. Rogun Dam
The Roghun Dam (russian: Рогунская ГЭС; tg, Нерӯгоҳи барқи обии Роғун) is an embankment dam under construction on the Vakhsh River in southern Tajikistan. The dam is situated 110 km from Dushanbe. It is one of the planned hydroelectric power plants of Vakhsh Cascade. Construction of the dam began in the Soviet era, in 1976, but was abandoned in 1993 after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Over three decades only preliminary construction has been carried out on the dam. Due to its controversial state, construction was suspended in August 2012 pending World Bank reports. The project was restarted by the Tajik government in 2016. The power plant's first unit was commissioned in November 2018 and second in September 2019, both on lower hydraulic head. Köppen Climate Classification
The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936.
