The 2024 New Hampshire House of Representatives election was held on November 5, 2024, alongside the 2024 United States elections. Republicans picked up 21 seats, expanding their narrow one-seat majority. Strafford County, New Hampshire
Strafford County is a county in the U.S. state of New Hampshire. As of the 2020 census, the population was 130,889. Its county seat is Dover. Strafford County was one of the five original counties identified for New Hampshire in 1769. It was named after William Wentworth, 2nd Earl of Strafford in the mistaken belief that he was the ancestor of governor John Wentworth – although they were distantly related, William had no descendants. The county was organized at Dover in 1771. In 1840, the size of the original county was reduced with the creation of Belknap County. Strafford County constitutes a portion of the Boston-Cambridge- Newton, MA-NH Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as of the greater Boston- Worcester- Providence, MA- RI-NH- CT Combined Statistical Area. The Free State Project (FSP) is an American political migration movement founded in 2001 to recruit at least 20,000 libertarians to move to a single low-population state to make the state a stronghold for libertarian ideas. New Hampshire was selected in 2003 for this purpose. The ''New Hampshire Union Leader'' reports that the Free State Project is not a political party but a nonprofit organization. Participants in the FSP signed a statement of intent declaring that they intended to move to New Hampshire within five years of the drive reaching 20,000 participants.
