Roberts Lipsbergs
Roberts Lipsbergs (born July 29, 1994 in Riga, Latvia) is a Latvian professional ice hockey centre who is currently playing for Dinamo Riga in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Playing career Lipsbergs began his career with SK Riga 18 where he spent two seasons in their youth system before spending the 2011–12 season with HK Rīga. On June 27, 2012, Lipsbergs was selected by the Seattle Thunderbirds in the CHL Import Draft. In the 2013–14 season, on October 5, 2013, Lipsbergs became the first WHL player to score and complete a hat trick in the 1st period of a game. On September 25, 2014, the Stockton Thunder announced they had signed Lipsbergs to a one-year standard player contract. After 15 games with the Thunder, Lipsbergs was returned to major junior with the Thunderbirds. 2017–18 KHL Season
The 2017–18 KHL season was the tenth season of the Kontinental Hockey League. The season started on 21 August 2017 and ended on 22 April 2018. The league accommodated a 33 day Olympic break, to allow its players to participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics in February. Team changes The Croatian club Medveščak Zagreb relocated back to the Austrian Hockey League, and Russian club Metallurg Novokuznetsk was relegated to the Supreme Hockey League, to bring the total number of KHL teams to 27. 2015–16 ECHL Season
The 2015–16 ECHL season was the 28th season of the ECHL. The regular season schedule ran from October 16, 2015 to April 9, 2016 with the Kelly Cup playoffs to follow. The 2014–15 WHL season was the 49th season of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The regular season began on September 19, 2014, and ended on March 22, 2015. The Brandon Wheat Kings won their fifth Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy for best regular season record. The playoffs began on March 26, 2015, and ended on May 13, 2015. The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Wheat Kings in the final to win their fourth Ed Chynoweth Cup and a berth in the 2015 Memorial Cup tournament, which was held at the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City, Quebec. The Western Hockey League (WHL) is a junior ice hockey league based in Western Canada and the Northwestern United States. Penalty (ice Hockey)
A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play.
