Robert Garcia (baseball)
Robert Christopher Garcia (born June 14, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2023 with the Miami Marlins. Career Amateur Garcia attended Modesto Christian High School in Modesto, California, and lettered in baseball in each of his four years. He attended the University of California, Davis, where he played college baseball for the UC Davis Aggies.In 2016, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Kansas City Royals The Kansas City Royals selected Garcia in the 15th round of the 2017 MLB draft. Miami Marlins After the 2021 season, the Miami Marlins selected Garcia from the Royals in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft. The Wareham Gatemen are a collegiate summer baseball team based in Wareham, Massachusetts. The team is a member of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) and plays in the league's West Division. The Gatemen play their home games at Clem Spillane Field in Wareham. The Gatemen most recently won the CCBL championship in 2018 when they defeated the Chatham Anglers two games to none to win the best of three championship series. Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp
The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League (IL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. They are located in Jacksonville, Florida, and are named for shrimp caught in the area. The team plays their home games at 121 Financial Ballpark, which opened in 2003. They previously played at Sam W. Wolfson Baseball Park from 1962 until the end of the 2002 season. A team known as the Jacksonville Suns competed in the Triple-A International League from 1962 to 1968. The franchise was relocated to Norfolk, Virginia, as the Tidewater Tides in 1969. After one season without professional baseball, a different Suns team came to the city in 1970 as members of the Double-A Southern League (SL).
