Saeima
The Saeima () is the parliament of the Latvia, Republic of Latvia. It is a unicameral parliament consisting of 100 members who are elected by proportional representation, with seats allocated to political parties which gain at least 5% of the popular vote. Elections are scheduled to be held once every four years, normally on the first Saturday of October. The most recent elections were held in 2022 Latvian parliamentary election, October 2022. Vidzeme (; ) is one of the five multi-member constituencies of the Saeima, the national legislature of Latvia. The constituency was established in 1922 when the Saeima was established following Latvia's independence from the Soviet Union. Latvia First (, LPV) is a right-wing populist political party in Latvia. It was founded in August 2021 by businessman and former member of parliament, former Minister of Transport, former vice-mayor of Riga, Ainārs Šlesers. The party board chair is Ainārs Šlesers. Inese Šlesere (born 2 August 1972 in Riga) is a Latvian politician, former model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was the runner-up in the 1999 Mrs. World and a contestant in Miss World 1991. 2022 Latvian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Latvia on 1 October 2022 to elect the Fourteenth Saeima of Latvia, following the end of the term of the Thirteenth Saeima of Latvia, 13th Saeima elected in 2018. Incumbent Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš led his New Unity party and allies to a decisive win in the election which was seen as a decisive victory for pro-Western parties in the country. Central Election Commission (Latvia)
Central Election Commission (', abbreviated CVK) is the commission responsible for the organising and conducting of elections in the Republic of Latvia. It is regulated by Latvian national law. It organises elections to the Saeima, the European Parliament, local councils as well as referendums. The CVK is an independent state-owned institution and consists of nine members serving four year terms: the chairperson plus seven of the members are elected by the Saeima, while the ninth member is chosen among the judges of the Supreme Court of Latvia. The commission was established in its current form after on 8 December 1992 after Latvian independence from the Soviet Union.
