Newark Riverfront Park
Newark Riverfront Park is a park and promenade being developed in phases along the Passaic River in Newark, New Jersey, United States. It is part of the Essex County Park System. The park, expected to be long and encompass , is being created from brownfield and greyfield sites along the river, which itself is a Superfund site due to decades of pollution. It will follow the river between the Ironbound section along Raymond Boulevard and Downtown Newark along McCarter Highway to the Bridge Street Bridge. Announced in 1999, a groundbreaking took place in 2008, and the first phase of the park opened in 2012. It was the first time residents of the largest city in New Jersey have ever had public access to the river. Other segments of the park have subsequently opened, while others are being developed. Riverfront Park is a 26-acre park located along the Willamette River in Salem, Oregon, in the United States. Features include the Riverfront Carousel (2001), A. C. Gilbert's Discovery Village, an amphitheatre, a splashpad, a dock housing The Willamette Queen, and the '' Eco-Earth Globe'', an outdoor sculpture and community art project completed in 2003. Annual events in Salem are often held at Riverfront, such as the World Beat Festival, outdoor movies, and holiday tree lightings. A 2018 update to the Riverfront Park plan provided more amenities such as aquiring a 4 acre property at the southeast corner of the park, opening the Peter Courtney Minto Island pedestrian bridge, operation of a winter ice rink, and proposals of a new covered stage and performance area. Riverfront Park is a public park in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania that spans beside the Susquehanna River. The park runs parallel to the Susquehanna River between the shoreline and Front Street, from Vaughn Street at the north to the I-83 John Harris Bridge at the south. It includes a concrete waterfront esplanade as well as greenspace on the riverbank first developed during the City Beautiful Movement in the early 20th Century by Warren H. Manning as one of the first riverfront reclamations by American cities. Riverfront Park overlooks views of the river, City Island, Wormleysburg and Blue Mountain in the distance. Riverfront Park is also part of the larger Capital Area Greenbelt and maintains bike lanes and paved paths. Allegheny Riverfront Park is a municipal park that runs along the south bank of the Allegheny River in Downtown Pittsburgh, Downtown Pittsburgh. It is a parcel of the Three Rivers Park, the city's grand urban waterfront park project along its rivers that will provide a continuous green trail connecting existing and future riverfront developments. Completed segments include North Shore Riverfront Park, South Shore Riverfront Park, and Point State Park. The boundaries of the park are the Ninth Street Pier and Fort Duquesne Bridge. The park consists of two 4,000 foot promenades that run along the river on either side of the multilevel 10th Street Bypass and Fort Duquesne Boulevard above. The park is situated along the Spokane River and encompasses the Upper Spokane Falls, which is the largest urban waterfall in the United States. The site of the park and the surrounding falls were a Native American gathering place, which had a number of fishing camps near the base of the falls. The first American settlers came in 1871, establishing a claim and building a sawmill near the falls that would later be purchased by James N.
