The Swedish Sports Confederation (, RF) is the umbrella organisation of the Swedish sports movement founded in 1903. Through its member organisations, it has three million members in 22,000 clubs. Its present chair, since 2024, is Anna Iwarsson. The Swedish Sports Confederation has its offices at Idrottens hus by Skanstull in Stockholm. History Foundation The Swedish Sports Confederation was founded at the Royal Central Gymnastics Institute on 31 May 1903 under the name ''Svenska Gymnastik- och Idrottsföreningarnas Riksförbund'' (). 35 sports clubs were present at the founding meeting for the organisation that soon organised itself as a confederation of specific sports governing bodies. Swedish Handball Federation
The Swedish Handball Federation (, SHF) is the national handball association in Sweden. The Swedish Handball Federation was founded out of the Swedish Game Association on 25 November 1930 and joined the Swedish Sports Confederation (, RF) in 1931. It is also a member of the Swedish Olympic Committee (, SOK), the European Handball Federation (EHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF). Its headquarters are in Stockholm. In 1948, the Swedish Handball Federation set up a basketball section, which existed until the October 1952 establishment of the Swedish Basketball Federation. The Swedish Football Association (, SvFF) is the governing and body of football in Sweden. It organises the football leagues – Allsvenskan for men and for women – and the men's and women's national teams. It is based in Solna and is a founding member of both FIFA and UEFA. Swedish Floorball Federation
The Swedish Floorball Federation () is the governing body of floorball in Sweden. It was founded in Sala, Sweden 7 November 1981 and held its first annual meeting, where all 15 clubs were represented, 20 March 1982. From the season of 1983/84 the Swedish Floorball Federation became a section of the Swedish Hockey Association. After this, the interest for floorball in Sweden grew and many new clubs were founded. In 1984 there already were over 100 floorball clubs in Sweden. The 22 November 1985 the Swedish Floorball Federation was accepted as an independent association into the Swedish Sports Confederation (Swedish: ''Riksidrottsförbundet''). Karl-Erik Nilsson (referee)
Karl-Erik Nilsson (born 6 May 1957) is the first vice-president of UEFA. Nilsson is also a retired football referee. Life Early career Nilsson was born on 6 May 1957 in Emmaboda, Sweden. He studied to become an elementary school teacher, a profession he practised during the 1970s. Nilsson also worked in the correctional system of Sweden. As a politician for the Social Democratic Party, Nilsson was the chairman of the municipal board of Emmaboda Municipality between 1994 and 2006. Swedish Ice Hockey Association
The Swedish Ice Hockey Association () in Swedish, is an association of Swedish ice hockey clubs. It was established in Stockholm on 17 November 1922 by representatives from seven clubs. Before then, organized ice hockey in Sweden had been administered by the Swedish Football Association. In 1920, Sweden became a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). In addition to ice hockey, SIF is also responsible for inline hockey. The association's general secretary is Tommy Boustedt. Swedish Golf Federation
The Swedish Golf Federation (, SGF) is the governing body for the sport of golf in Sweden, founded in 1904. The federation is responsible for administering the Rules of Golf, as laid down by The R&A, at the national level. It organizes tournaments, manages the national teams, and promotes the game. As of 2022, the federation organized 448 golf clubs and 505,577 individual members with 536 203 memberships, 74.4% male and 25.6% female. This makes it the third largest sports federation in Sweden in terms of active members, behind association football and athletics in first and second and place. SGF is a member of the European Golf Association (EGA). Swedish Dancesport Federation (DSF) administers all dancesport in Sweden. The association was formed on February 25, 1968, and is one of 68 different sports federations in Sweden. Cricket Sweden () was established in 1990, and is the administrative organisation for all cricket in Sweden. The Swedish Cricket Federation is an List of International Cricket Council members, associate member of the International Cricket Council. In 1998, there were approx. 500 registered cricket players in Sweden.
